About Desi
Hello everyone! I am Desi, the woman who started Wee Share.
I am assuming you came here to learn a little more about me. Well, life as I know it all began when I started dating my husband in October 1998. He was 14 and I was 15 (yes, I am older by a year and a half). It didn't take long before I considered him to be more than my boyfriend- he was my best friend. I also knew at that young age that God had sent this wonderful man into my life, and I had no doubts he would one day be my husband. Darren proposed to me in September 2003. I was 20 and Darren had just turned 19. We were engaged for over a year and finally tied the knot on December 18, 2004.
After spending a glorious honeymoon at Disney World, we returned to our every day lives in Georgia. Darren was working full time so that I could concentrate on finishing school. I graduated in December 2006 with a degree in early childhood education. By this point, Darren and I were yearning for more independence and a fresh start. So, we packed our bags, transferred Darren's job, and started our lives in Summerville, SC.
Soon, I began working for the same company as Darren. So, we both had decent jobs throughout the week, and spent the weekends enjoying our new surroundings. Sure, it was tough being away from all our family and everything we had ever known. However, it was also a time where we could get to know each other even more and grow closer together.
The day before I turned 25, our lives would change forever. We found out we were expecting a little miracle. We were surprised and ecstatic. We spent countless nights laying in bed and dreaming what our beautiful baby would be like. About halfway through the pregnancy, we found out our hunches were right, and that we were having a little girl. On September 11, 2008, we welcomed the most beautiful baby girl God has ever created. Raileigh Jahzmyne was born at 12:38 pm, weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 21 inches long.
At this point, I left the workforce to become a stay at home mom. Having a child and being so far away from our family was a whole lot different than when it was just Darren and I. The visits from our loved ones were nice, but always too short. So, Darren requested to transfer his job back home to Georgia so that Raileigh could grow up surrounded by the people who loved her.
Raileigh was only 5 months old when we came home. Moving with a baby that young is a bit difficult, to say the least! However, it is great to be here, where Raileigh can get to know all of her grandparents and aunts and uncles. Plus, being near Atlanta, there is never a shortage of things to do!
Outside of blogging, I enjoy spending every moment possible with my family! Raileigh is now 20 months old, and she loves to color (and not just on paper, unfortunately), "cook" in her kitchen, play soccer, read books, and make music. She also really enjoys watching Barney, Elmo, and Clifford. As a family, we like to go hiking and letterboxing, visit the aquarium, have picnics at the park, and go on any new adventures we can come up with.
In that rare quiet time, I really enjoying sewing. I love to cut up my old clothes and turn them into clothes for Raileigh. I have also started lots of sewing projects that will decorate my new home. I also enjoy baking, reading, watching movies, birdwatching, and board games. I am a Christian and was saved as a young child. Raileigh learned very young to say her blessing before each meal. If we happen to forget, Raileigh will always remind us!
I also thoroughly enjoy traveling. I really love visiting new places and having new experiences. I have several places that I really want to visit in my lifetime. More than anything, I really want to go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights. I would also like to road trip down the entire length of Route 66, go to the giant hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque, NM, and visit Disney Land in California.
In addition to being a mother and a wife, I am also a sister and an aunt. I have two younger sisters, Lindsey, who is 21, and Jesse, who is 13. Lindsey has a little girl, Marlee, who is only 6 weeks younger than Raileigh!
Life is busy and filled with my wonderful family and friends. However, I would not change this for anything in the world!
