My answer to this is I don't know - we are getting ready to move our two small children and I am trying to prepare. The hardest part is that all of our family will be here! We are constantly talking about all the new things we are going to be doing but honestly I really won't know what works until we get there - wish us luck!

I talked to my granddaughter about going to a different school and meeting new friends but still keeping in touch with her old friends from the old school. We'll do activities with both like having a tea party where we invite both old friends and new ones or we go to the park to play with new & old friends. Children need to know how change can be positive for them and not to be afraid of it.

We haven't really gone through any major changes with our almost 5 yr old and 2.5 yr old Daughters. For our oldest, she was a little to young to really understand that her little sister was going to be coming, but we tried to involve her when ever we could.
We try to always be open and honest (age appropriate) with our girls. I think this book will be good to possibly start us discussing the change of preschool to kindergarten. Thank you.

Since my first is due in January, I havent had to help my kids adjust yet. lol But when I was a nanny I always made sure to explain the change to them and make sure they were ok with it. They seemed to do ok with change as long as they were reminded that we'd (parents and me) would be there for them. lol
