One of my favorite parts of the season is riding around to look at Christmas lights.  And, this year– we got to do that in a very unique way.

We visited the Gift of Lights Atlanta at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Celebrate the holiday season as Atlanta Motor Speedway turns into one of the area’s biggest drive-through Christmas light parks!  The route is lit up by more than a million LED lights. You will truly experience Atlanta Motor Speedway in a way which you have never seen it before!

We drove down on opening night to experience the lights.  This is hands down one of the coolest drive-thru lights events that we have experienced.  You actually get to drive ON the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  We drove in the infield, across the checkered finish line, very close to the Winner’s Circle, and up on the banking between turns 3 and 4.

Darren had more fun than I can tell you.  He’s already said we’ll be going back every year just so he can drive on the famed racing oval again.

Besides getting to drive on the track, there were tons of lights to take in and enjoy.  Some were your your traditional lights– snowmen, gingerbread, Santa, snowflakes, and other symbols of the season.  There were even displays representing the Twelve Days of Christmas situated throughout the front stretch grandstands!

My favorite lights, however, were the ones unique to the location.  We saw Santa driving a race car, several other cars done up in lights, and even the Atlanta Motor Speedway logo made completely of Christmas lights!

On the weekends, there’s a cute little village you can get out and enjoy.  There is a humongous decorated tree, Santa’s sleigh, and a bonfire to keep you warm.  There is hot chocolate and s’mores kits for sale at very reasonable prices.  Plus, you can get professional pictures taken with Santa.   I have to tell you– I never usually buy pictures because I take my own.  But, these pictures were so good, I bought a CD with two of the images. {Just so you know… I added the text at the top.  It did not come like that.}  All this is located right near the Atlanta Motor Speedway Gift Shop, so you’ll have the chance to pick-up some racing souvenirs and gifts as well.

Oh how fun! I wish I lived over there. I LOVE that Santa picture! She’s getting so big, and I just love that smile. She’s just so darn cute! Here in Martinez,Ca. there’s lots of houses that have tons of lights. There’s one I haven’t been to yet. The man is called Mr.Christmas, and he has hundreds of thousands of lights. I’ve seen it in a short video, and it’s so beautiful. I’m trying to get my sister to take my nieces and I to see it. I love Christmas lights. My daughter and her fiance are putting up all mine on sunday. We’re having freeze warnings so I’m hoping sunday is warmer. We don’t get this kind of weather in Ca. It’s been in the 20’s. Jack Frost is just nipping on everything here. LOL!! Thank you for sharing your pictures 🙂
