M&M's Cookie Pie

There are some things that we pretty much keep in our house at all times… like M&M’s.  Raileigh likes to tell me that all twenty of her teeth are sweet, and these little treats are one of her favorite things to munch on.

Since she’s my special helper and my secret ingredient when it comes to baking, we also tend to use M&M’s when we’re whipping up new desserts to share.

M&M's in store

The last time that I made pie, somehow my little helper didn’t get a piece.  It was just gone that fast… and she was very disappointed.  So, I decided to create a special pie for her– an M&M’s Cookie Pie!

This pie is full of milk chocolate M&M’s {our favorite variety} and pretty much tastes like an oversized cookie.  It’s so good and so very pretty to look at– especially when topped with a dollop of cream and some little M&M Mini Chocolate Candy!

It’s perfect year-round any for many occasions– birthdays, family movie night, office party recipes.  It’s just one of those desserts that everyone is going to love.

RECIPE for M&M's Cookie Pie

M&M’s Cookie Pie

  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Plain M&M’s
  • 1 9-inch deep dish pie shell {I use the ones found in the refrigerated section, near the break and bake cookies}
  • OPTIONAL {but highly recommended}- cream and Mini M&M’s for the topping

Baking M&M's Cookie Pie

Move your oven rack into the lower setting and pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.

Place the melted butter in a large bowl.  Gradually whisk in the sugar and brown sugar.  Beat in both eggs, then add the vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients you blended earlier.  Fold in the M&M’s.

Take the pie shell and press it carefully into your pie dish.  Pour the pie mixture into the dish, using the back of a spoon to evenly distribute it.  Take an additional handful of M&M’s and press them into the top of your dough.  This just adds an extra pop of color to the top of your pie.

Bake for 33 to 35 minutes until the top of the pie is a light golden brown color.  if you cut into the pie right away, it will be gooey and slightly runny.  Allow the pie to sit for 3 to 4 hours and the filling will set.

You can microwave for 15 seconds and the filling will be warm, but won’t run.  It’s really good when topped with a a big dollop of cream with some Mini M&M’s added for color.  You can also choose to add vanilla ice cream instead of cream– both are really good.  I’ve never made this pie with Peanut M&M’s, but I suspect that would be a nice twist as well.
