World’s BEST {Contest Winning} Chocolate Chip Cookies

world's best chocolate chip cookies

Y’all– I love dessert.  Generally speaking, the more chocolate it contains, the better.

That being said, I have a pretty simple favorite treat– chocolate chip cookies.  Not just any chocolate chip cookies, though.

These chocolate chip cookies.

For years, I struggled to make a really good chocolate chip cookie.  Sure, they tasted good, but they were flat and pretty unappealing.  Then, about 7 years ago, I made these cookies.

The first time I made them I actually entered them into a cookie contest.  Low and behold, they won.  I knew I was on to something.  Since then, I haven’t looked back… or ever attempted another chocolate chip cookie recipe.  These are just too good.

The recipe makes about 6 dozen, which may seem like a lot.  But trust me– they won’t last long.  Whenever I bake these cookies, I have to call in reinforcements.  I simply have no will power over there delicious taste.

World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Butter Flavored CRISCO (no substitutes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 cups chocolate chips {I HIGHLY recommend Ghirardhelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips}

Preheat oven to 375º F. Use a mixer to cream the Crisco, sugar, and light brown sugar.  Be careful not to over-cream.  Add eggs, vanilla, salt and baking soda. Blend well with mixer.  Gradually add the flour, stirring it in by hand.  Fold in the chocolate chips.

I always refrigerate the dough for about half an hour before baking.  This helps with the cookies spreading.

Form dough into balls that are roughly an inch in diameter.  Bake about 7 to 9 minutes until lightly browned—–mostly around the edges. Center will still be soft. Let sit on pan for a minute or 2 before carefully transferring to a cooling rack.

Hi. I have never seen butter crisco in my grocery stores so I am wondering if I would just use regular crisco? Should I add a butter flavored extract to give it the buttery taste?

Are these cookies like soft and chewy? Because all of the other recipes have turned out hard or crispy and i hate that.

I made these tonight, but we don’t buy Crisco so I used 1/2 butter and 1/2 coconut oil and… my 5 kids and husband loved them.
