Twix Puppy Chow {Recipe}

twix puppy chow

So… I have definitely been on a puppy chow kick lately.  We got this incredible deal on Rice Chex recently– as in 24 boxes for $8.  Needless to say, there is an insane amount of cereal in my cabinets just begging to be made into a sweet treat.

I’ve made cake batter puppy chow, orange creamsicle puppy chow, Milky Way puppy chow, and now Twix puppy chow.

Twix Puppy Chow is made using actual Twix bars so you’ll get a light, tasty treat that tastes just like one of our favorite candy bars.

With the holiday of candy just around the corner {also know as Halloween}, recipes like this are great to keep in your file.  It’s the perfect way to use up that endless supply of Halloween candy that will inevitably be collected while trick-or-treating.

Twix Puppy Chow

  • 4 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • 4.5 tbsp butter
  • 28 mini Twix bars
  • 1/2 cup + 1/8 cup confectioners sugar

Start by placing your cereal into a large bowl.  Set aside.

Add your butter and mini Twix bars to sauce pan.  Over low heat, melt the candy and the butter together.  Twix have a cookie piece in the middle and you’ll notice that this part doesn’t melt.  Stir continuously as the rest of the ingredients melt together.

When everything is adequately melted, take out a fine mesh strainer.  Pour the melted mixture through the strainer, over the cereal.  The cookie pieces will remain in the strainer.  Working quickly, cut the cookies into little pieces.  Then, add the little cookie pieces into the cereal mixture.  Go ahead and add the confectioners sugar as well.

Using a rubber spatula, gently mix everything together.  You want to ensure that the cereal pieces are all well-coated, so make sure to get all the way to the bottom of the bowl when you’re mixing.

And that’s it.  You’re all done.  Four simple ingredients and you’ve got a delicious batch of Twix Puppy Chow just waiting to be devoured.
