I love this time of year and Halloween just happens to be one of my favorite holidays. What can I say– costumes, candy, pumpkins, and all of the other Halloween goodness just makes me smile.
So, naturally, I was pretty excited when I learned that Starburst was debuting a NEW candy– just in time for my favorite season.
It’s Starburst Candy Corn!
Filled with the all the delicious flavors of Original Starburst Candy… only in candy corn form! You’ll get the four original flavors- cherry, strawberry, orange, and lemon.
I’ll admit– this candy completely threw me at first. I mean, the flavor was spot-on, but the texture is what got me. I’m used to the chewiness and consistency that the original Starburst offer and the Starburst Candy Corn is definitely different. However, the more I ate it, the more I liked it. In fact, between my daughter and I, we’ve actually polished off one bag and went to buy another one.
We’re not the only ones that love Starburst Candy Corn, though. Celebrity mom Tori Spelling has teamed up with Starburst to offer Tori’s Tasty Tips for Halloween! She’s created a beautiful assortment of projects that would add a festive touch to any Halloween decor or table setting. There’s even some Halloween jewelry thrown in– made with Starburst Candy Corn, of course!
Here’s a peek at a few of my most favorite projects:

She also made some absolutely adorable Candied Cupcakes that I just had to recreate.
Tori Spelling’s Candied Cupcakes
- Starburst Candy Corn
- Cupcakes, any flavor
- Icing of your choice
The first step is to cook and frost your cupcakes. You can choose absolutely any flavor. Just remember that the Starburst Candy Corn is fruity and try to pick something that will compliment that well.
Now, it’s time for the real fun– decorating!
Here’s how Tori did it– In the middle of your frosted cupcake, stick a single candy corn pointy side down. The larger, rouded portion should still be exposed.
Now, take additional Starburst Candy Corn and lay them around center piece. The tip of the candy corn should be facing inwards. Repeat until the entire top of the cupcake is covered.
The great thing about this project idea is that it’s a stepping stone. Use it as inspiration to come up with your own creative decorating ideas. You can see that I took the idea and kind of ran with it. Here’s a few additional ideas that I came up with:
- Stick ALL the candy corn pieces into the cupcake, just as you did with the center piece.
- Stick a handful of candy corn into the cupcake, rounded end down. This will create a spiky cupcake!
- Skip the center piece of candy corn and use a dollop of colored icing instead!
The possibilities are endless, really.
Using candy for something other than it’s intended purpose is definitely fun. I’ve already been brainstorming what we can do with all the Halloween candy my daughter is sure to collect while trick-o-treating! Hopefully she’ll get some Starburst Candy Corn, because I would love to use more of Tori’s Tasty Tips and whip up some of the other projects as well.
