My Early Birthday Present — Adobe Photoshop Elements 11!!

My-Exciting-Birthday-Present

As many of you know, Kevin and I are expecting our first child on October 3. I am currently 37 1/2 weeks pregnant — so our sweet little Brooklynn can make her appearance whenever she decides the time is right!

It is also {almost} my birthday — less than two weeks away! My very sweet husband decided to surprise me with my birthday present a couple of weeks early — Adobe Photoshop Elements 11!!!

Of course — as a blogger… and a business owner… AND a first time mom-to-be — having Photoshop has been something I have really wanted for a while now. Kevin thought it would be great to go ahead and give me my birthday present early — so I would have time to {relatively} learn how to use it before our lives get EXTREMELY busy with a newborn!

I am pretty quick with computers. I always have been. When I was really young {back when having computers in your house was extremely rare}, I would get SO excited to go to my Aunt’s house to play on her computer. I understood how it worked and didn’t need anyone to show me how to do things. I am still this way with computer based stuff. Although I am NOT a genius OR super smart in technology… I can usually figure out an answer on “how to do” something on my computer.

Photoshop on the other hand… is not like this.

If any of you have Photoshop {or even simply spent 5 minutes in the program}, you would easily know that it is very complicated and overwhelming for beginners.

The day my husband gave me Photoshop, I began thinking about all of the things I wanted to create with it. I didn’t realize how in-over-my-head I was until I sat down and tried to do some pretty complicated things without knowing ANY of the basics.

I spent all day trying to figure it out.

This was extremely frustrating to me because of how quick I have always been with computers. However, as Desi reminded me, I have only had Photoshop a couple of days — and using Photoshop is definitely a learning process.

SO — since I am completely new to this whole Photoshop thing, I wanted to share some of the things I’m learning here on Wee Share. That way, if you’re new at Photoshop as well, we can learn together!

Desi told me about this really awesome resource for all things Photoshop — The CoffeeShop Blog! They have a TON of actions and tutorials that really help understand how to edit and manipulate photos to exactly how you want them to be!

Here are a couple of my favorite free actions from this blog so far:

SO — although this is not a TON of insight for today — it is what I have learned since receiving Photoshop Elements 11!

Do you have any favorite PSE Actions that you could not imagine editing without? Feel free to comment and let me know! I’d love to try them out!
