Homestyle Chicken Mac-N-Cheese {Recipe}

When Kraft came out with the Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese, Kevin and I were QUICK to give it a try. It’s DELICIOUS. Way better than normal mac-n-chs.

Shortly after Kevin and I got married, I decided to get a little creative in the kitchen and add some chicken to our favorite Macaroni and Cheese. It was a major success.

At that time, I worked at my college’s gym. I brought some of this as left overs to eat for lunch. I heated it up in the gym’s microwave… sat down at my station… and started to enjoy my food. Within 30 seconds, I had at least 4 different guys from inside of the fitness center come out to investigate what it was they were smelling. From the time I started eating my meal to the time I was finally done, I had about 10 different people ask me what in the world smelled so good. SO – not only was it a success at my house, but it seems to attract male noses like a magnet!

  • 1 Package of Kraft Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese {I use the Hearty Four Cheese}
  • 6 fresh or frozen chicken tenders
  • Chicken Broth
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Seasoned Salt
  • Garlic Salt
  • Extra breadcrumbs {if desired}
  • Extra shredded cheese {flavor is up to you — Kevin and I usually use a casserole mix or cheddar}

  • Preheat the oven to 375˙ F
  • Put the chicken in a baking dish.
  • Sprinkle seasoned salt AND garlic salt on both sides of the chicken.
  • Put enough EVOO and chicken broth {equal parts} to cover the chicken.
  • Bake for 40 minutes. {Take the chicken out and flip it after 20 minutes}
  • Once the chicken is done, shred it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Turn the oven UP to 425˙F.
  • Cook the Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese as indicated on the package. Stop BEFORE you put the macaroni into the baking dish.
  • Add the chicken and some of its’ broth into the macaroni and cheese. Stir up.
  • Put the Chicken and macaroni into a baking dish. Top with shredded cheese and breadcrumbs.
  • Put the dish into the oven for 10-12 minutes {or, until the cheese is melted on top of the macaroni} I like to leave it in until it’s slightly brown on top to give it a real crunch!

Serve and enjoy! This dish is GREAT as left overs and usually gets gobbled up pretty quick!
