From Bump To Baby: DIY Picture Frame Bow Organizer {Tutorial}

Header

For the past couple of months, I have been frantically trying to prepare for the sweet little princess that will be making her appearance very soon. As I have said in multiple posts, Kevin and I currently live in a basement apartment with limited space. Although this amount of space is very cozy and works great for just Kevin and I… It has been a challenge trying to fit all of Brooklynn’s little things in the mix.

I decided to make this little project to help organize some of Brooklynn’s bows and headbands — and I absolutely LOVE it!

Materials:

  • Wooden Picture Frame {I got mine for $20 at Hobby Lobby – and it has a GORGEOUS vintage look to it!}
  • Ribbon
  • {8} Cup Hooks
  • Hot Glue
  • Staple Gun
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Ribbon

To Make the Bow Holder:

  • Turn the frame over to the back.
  • Decide how many lines you want on your picture frame organizer. I wanted four – so, I marked four equal distances from each side of the frame for the ribbon to be attached to my frame.
  • I used masking tape to keep the ribbon in place while I measured everything. I checked MULTIPLE times to be sure that it was looking right from the front side of the frame.
  • Once I was satisfied with where I wanted my ribbons, I got my {very handsome} hubby to use the staple gun to attach the ribbon to the frame.
  • After the ribbon was firmly in place on my frame, I took my hot glue gun and glued down the ends of the ribbon – so that they would not stick out when the frame is hung on the wall.

Hooks

To Make the Headband Hooks:

  • Use your ruler and pencil to measure and mark eight equal spots along the bottom of the frame.
  • Simply screw each cup hook on each mark that you made with your pencil.
  • Just a tip: I had a REALLY hard time screwing the cup hooks into my frame because of how sore and swollen my hands are. So, I took a hammer and a nail and made a small indention in the frame and then started screwing the cup hooks into the wood. You don’t have to do this — it is just something that made things easier for me.

I absolutely LOVE how this project came out — and it looks great on the wall of my sweet girl’s room! I have a feeling that this will last us a long time — and it will be the home to many hair bows and headbands in the future!

    Hi Angela,
    Congrats! I just found out tuesday I’m going to be a grandma. I’m really paying attention to baby DIY projects and I absolutely love this one. What a great space saver. You’re just so talented b/c I have one of your beautiful necklaces hanging in my bathroom. Even though my daughter is grown, I still wanted a necklace with her name & birthdate b/c I never had anything like that when she was born. In time I maybe ordering one. I’ve seen so many amazing baby ideas. I’ve entered so many baby stuff giveaways and I’ve won quite a few. I actually won some really nice stuff last year so my daughter and future son-in-law will have some nice things in their Disney nursery. Thank you for sharing :)
