From Bump To Baby: Fat Quarter Shop {Review}

Disclosure Review

Brooklynn's Hospital Guest Quilt

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to work with The Fat Quarter Shop in the 2012 Holiday Gift Guide. I made a sweet little Christmas quilt with the Santa’s Workshop Fabric Bundle. HERE is a link to that review.

The MOMENT that I found out that I was pregnant, I started dreaming up beautiful things that I could make my baby. I immediately went to my favorite fabric store — The Fat Quarter Shop — and started browsing through the beautiful fabrics. I had a few different fabric bundles in mind that I really loved {because come on, you WON’T find just ONE fabulous fabric bundle on this shop}. When I found out that we were having a sweet little GIRL… I knew exactly the bundle that I HAD to have for her!

I have been COMPLETELY obsessed with floral patterns lately… Especially the fabrics that are vintage with a modern twist. The fabric designs in the Annette Tatum “Bouquet” fabric bundle are absolutely breathtaking. The patterns are simple, elegant, and gorgeous.

I had {what seems like} a MILLION ideas for what I wanted to do with this fabric. I think this fabric is very special – so I wanted to make something extremely special out of it for my sweet daughter. I would use my quilting software {Electric Quilt 7} and design something… only to scratch the idea because it wasn’t EXACTLY what I had in mind. After many attempts at creating the perfect template for this fabric… I realized exactly what I needed to do.

When Kevin and I got married, we had all of the guests at our wedding sign a quilt piece that I later put together to make a quilt. You can see the end product HERE. I recently finished that project – and it has become one of our most special memories from the wedding. We are able to look back and remember all of the guests who celebrated our big day with us.

Because the guest quilt from our wedding has become so special to us, I decided that making a similar type of quilt would be perfect for our sweet little Brooklynn. That way, even though SHE is not going to remember being born, she will be able to look back at her quilt to see all of the people who came to celebrate her first day of life.

I paired this quilt with my favorite solid fabric line — Kona Cotton! Once we come home from the hospital, I will finish up the quilt. My plans are to add either a cream or pink border with a solid cream backing. Don’t worry — I will most certainly be posting the finished product here on Wee Share!

Head on over to The Fat Quarter Shop — you will be AMAZED at the gorgeous fabric collections that are sold there. And, be sure to stay tuned in to Wee Share to see Brooklynn’s Finished Hospital Guest Quilt!!
