Albert Whitman is one of our most favorite publishing companies.  They feature unique books with beautiful illustrations that are made from high-quality materials.  Really… what more could you ask for?

Needless to say, I was thrilled to hear about their Summer Book Giveaway.  For four glorious days, across multiple places, Albert Whitman will be giving away a plethora of books.  Children’s books, young adult books– all autographed by their respective author!  It’s a book lovers dream.

The best part is that here at Wee Share, we get to take part in this monstrous giveaway and I could not be more excited.

snowy blowy winter

Snowy, Blowy Winter

Written by Bob Raczka

Illustrated by Judy Stead

How would you describe winter?

Is it “freezy, stuffy, and sneezy?” Or do you think it’s “glowy, rosy, and cozy?”

No matter how you feel about winter, you are sure to enjoy Bob Raczka’s tribute to the season’s activities, tastes, and sounds. The simple rhymes using “y” words will encourage children to come up with their own words to describe the season.

This book thrills me because it’s summer and to be honest– I am not the biggest fan of these hot months.  I much prefer to be cold, curled up under a blanket than trying to find a way to stay cool.  So, daydreaming about the winter months ahead is good for my soul.

As part of the Summer Book Giveaway, one of you super duper lucky readers is going to win a copy of Snowy, Blowy Winter AUTOGRAPHED by the author, Bob Raczka.  Yes– I am slightly jealous of this incredible prize.

I would love to have the entire Boxcar Children set. Our children read them when they were young. I was also excited to find on the site that there is a movie release coming soon!

  7. Suzanne Costner says:

From the Fall 2013 releases I really like the Urgency Emergency titles. My students can tell you, “Ms. Costner loves anything that resembles a fractured fairy tale or fairy tale reboot.” I use stories like those often in my library classes.

  8. Suzanne Costner says:

I love Bob Raczka’s books and have several of them in my school library. Teachers are always asking for poetry to share with their classes, or for books to teach language arts concepts like adjectives or adverbs. This would be great to recommend for those lessons.

  9. Cathi Bolton says:

I can’t wait to share “Snowy, Blowy Winter” with my children! I think it would be a great extension activity to write our own poem using our own “y” words and do the same for each of the seasons.
