Raileigh’s New Favorite Playthings- Polly Pocket {Review}

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Polly Pocket. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Toys have certainly evolved since I was a child, and Polly Pocket is a prime example of this.

The Polly Pocket I remember was tiny– about the size of a small paperclip.  She was made of hard plastic and bent at the waist.  The teeny-tiny dolls went with equally small play sets that Polly Pocket could interact with.

Polly Pocket is still around, but she has certainly gotten a face lift.  The dolls are now quite a bit larger– about 5 inches in height.  The play sets have increased in size as well.  The new products are much easier for little ones to grasp and use.  However, the size isn’t too large, which means Polly Pocket is quite portable and perfect for play on-the-go or at home.

Polly Pocket is certainly cute, but I was skeptical as to whether or not the adorable little doll would engage my daughter.  In my experience, play sets can tend to look much more fun and interactive than they actually are.  However, that is far from the case with Polly Pocket.  In fact, I would venture to say that every Polly Pocket we have tried out has surpassed my expectations.

The Polly Pocket Zip N’ Splash Playset sends Polly on a tropical water adventure.  After assembling the playset {it’s really easy- don’t worry!}Polly can zip along the vine from the top of the playset all the way to the awaiting pool of water at the bottom.  She glides quite easily and it’s really fun to watch as she zooms along.

The set comes with two additional figures which are Polly’s animal friends.  These darling little figures are engaged as Polly Pocket goes down the zip line.  The monkey twirls down the tree and little dog slides down the slide on a leaf boat.  There are hammocks for Polly to rest in and a coconut drink for her to enjoy.

One part of the playset that my daughter really loves is that Polly’s hair CHANGES COLOR.  Ice cold water will create a pink streak in the front of her hair.  Warm water easily changes it back.  Raileigh will switch out the water often just to watch Polly’s hair color come and go.

The best part, though, is that the Polly Pocket playset sparks her imagination.  As she sends Polly for her zillionth ride down the vine, she makes up sweet little scenarios as to what Polly and her friends are doing.  She has also added in other toys she has that are about Polly-sized for additional friends and storylines.  As a mother, I love to see the creativity flow.

Another wonderful aspect of Polly Pocket is that you don’t have to spend a ton for the product.  You can see in the widget below that the set I’ve been talking about is available for LESS THAN $10!  The widget is powered by Amazon, so if you see something you like, don’t hesitate to go ahead and place an order.

I’ve already warned my husband that Polly Pocket is here to stay.  I see more play sets, dolls, and wonderful adventures in our future.  Polly Pocket has certainly changed over the years, and I am very pleased to see how far she has come.
