I am Smitten with a Toothbrush {All-New Philips Sonicare PowerUp}

I have this thing about toothbrushes.  Meaning I like to get a new one… often.  I like using toothbrushes {obviously}, but they kind of gross me out at the same time.  I think about all the germs they remove from my mouth and teeth every day, the dust they must collect as they sit on the counter each day… and it simply makes me cringe.

As a result of my new toothbrush habit, I have tried many many different toothbrushes.  No specific toothbrush has ever made such an impact on me that I deemed it to be the one— that toothbrush that I must get each and every time I purchase a replacement.  Both  the manual and electric toothbrush have found their way into my home and there have definitely been things I liked about most of the brushes I tried.  However, nothing made any of these brushes stand out and make me want to purchase them again.

Recently, I got to give yet another toothbrush a whirl– the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush.

This awesome new toothbrush has some unique features that really made me sit up and take notice:

  • A month’s worth of brush strokes in a day
  • Built-in 2 minute timer helps ensure recommended brushing time
  • Slim design with rubber grip
  • Clinically proven safe and gentle

Let’s start with the brush strokes.  The Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush gives me more strokes than my old current manual brush can in one month.  Um… WOW!  That’s so much more brushing power, which is kind of surreal.  More brush strokes results in more plaque removal.  This means healthier gums and teeth, as well as a reduced chance of getting cavities.  Yes, please.

Then there is that built-in timer.  I tend to get distracted while brushing.  Usually, my husband is trying to tell me something or Raileigh is asking for a cup of water after she’s been tucked in.  That causes me to rush through brushing and I am betting this means I don’t brush as along as I should.  A built-in timer is exactly what I need to ensure I am brushing for the proper amount of time.

The actual design of the brush is one that I can really appreciate.  I have really small hands– as in child-size hands.  Things that are normally sized for adults {such as gloves and scissors} tend to be too large for me.  The slim design of this brush makes it perfect for me.  It fits in my little hands with no issues.  And, I promise– this is quite extraordinary.

Now, this toothbrush may be powerful, but it is also gentle.  I’ve been told my multiple dentists that I brush really, really hard {taking out aggression on the toothbrush?} and it tends to be rough on my gums.  The gentle motion of this brush gets the job done without being too powerful, which is something I can truly appreciate.

I have been using the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush for over a week now and I absolutely love it.  My teeth feel cleaner every time I brush them.  It makes me want to brush even more– simply because that “just brushed” feeling is so awesome.

I’m using a regular head on my toothbrush right now, as that seems to be that way the toothbrush is sold {for now}.  However, they do offer soft replacement heads and I will be purchasing those at Walmart {where the toothbrush is currently available} when the time comes.  I have been using a soft head for years and I think it’s just something I have gotten used to!

I think this toothbrush has officially ended my streak as a chronic “toothbrush hopper”.  With so many features that I love and incredibly clean teeth, there’s no reason to buy any other brush.  I’ve found the perfect one for me.

Make sure to visit the Walmart website to read even more about my new favorite toothbrush.  You can also order one for yourself and find out which stores near you have the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush in stock.

You can also connect with Philips Sonicare across social media for new product announcements and interesting content {such as this video showing the evolution of the toothbrush}:

    I was wondering about the size of the PowerUp. I’ve never used a powered toothbrush and I guess I’ve always thought they would be large. But it sounds like it’s a really nice size…looking forward to using it.
