Comfortable Shoes for Kids from pediped {Review + Giveaway}

My child is going to be five soon, and already I can see her choosing fashion over functionality.

I’ll give you a prime example.  Last year at the end of summer, my husband and I were out shopping.  I stumbled upon an adorable pair of flip flops that were so cheap they were almost giving them away.  That should have been a warning flag, but instead I purchased them.  Once we got home and my daughter put them on, I quickly saw past the adorable bows and sequins.

These flip flops were slightly raised in the back– almost like platform flip flops.  The positioning of the strap is slightly off, making them hard to keep on.  In short, these flip flops just don’t function well.  However, time and time again, Raileigh wants to wear them.  Yes, they are hard to walk in and they absolutely fall off each and every time she wears them.  However, she also knows that they are cute and to her, that is important.

But… what if you don’t have to sacrifice amazing style to have functional shoes?

Welcome to pediped– a line of children’s footwear that is comfortable, stylish, and made for a child’s growing feet.  The pediped footwear system features three unique stages that are specifically designed to meet the needs of your child’s growing foot:

  • Originals– Designed for those first steps, Originals come is size XS {0-6 months} through Large {18-24 months}.  They are made of the highest quality leather and are recommended for children learning to walk as the shoe designs closely mimics bare feet.
  • Grip ‘n’ Go– Designed for children transitioning from early walking into having a comfortable stride, the Grip ‘n’ Go shoes feature all the benefits of the Originals PLUS G2 technology.  Made for children ages 9 months through 3 years, it’s the ideal combination of protection and flexibility.
  • Flex– Designed for confident walkers who have already developed a natural stride, Flex shoes are made for big kids ages 1 through 8.  These shoes ensure comfort and healthy foot development and a Flex Fit System to prolong wear.

Raileigh has been running since she began walking and we need a shoe that can keep up whether she is playing at the park, riding her bike, or out in our kayaks on the lake.

The Flex Darcy is that shoe.

Made to look sporty, yet feminine, this closed toe shoe is flexible with a secure fit.  It features an all-natural rubber sole and a breathable mesh upper.  The velcro straps make the shoe easy to get on and off, yet keep it in place during active play.

One of my favorite aspects of the shoe is that it is water safe!  This means that if her feet get wet as we hop into the kayaks or if we encounter a stream crossing when out hiking, it is no big deal!  These shoes were made to get wet!

And… if these awesome adventures leave the Flex Darcy dirty, that’s okay, too.  These shoes are actually machine washable.  To me, that is a major selling point.  I have encountered very few shoes that are made to be washed like this and it is a very welcome feature.

The main question, though, is what Raileigh thinks of the shoes.  After all, we’ve already seen that she’s got to love how they look if she’s going to wear them!

My little fashionista is quite smitten with the Flex Darcy.  The neon color is bright and vibrant, which fits her personality well.  She has no issue getting the shoes on or taking them off when she wants to run barefoot in the grass.  These shoes have quickly became the shoes that Raileigh asks to wear over any other.  Good riddance awful platform flip flops!

I have been quite impressed with the quality and style of the shoes offered at pediped.  Not often do you find a shoe that both Raileigh and I can wholeheartedly agree upon.

The great news is that one of you is going to get to give pediped a try as well.  One lucky reader is going to win a pair of pedipeds Originals, made for children through ages 24 months.
