Exercise has been a huge and very important part of my pregnancy. Prior to being pregnant, I worked out frequently and stayed in good shape. Once I found out I was pregnant and my body started to uncontrollably change (in shape and composition), I decided it was even MORE important to keep moving and stay active.Yoga is known for how challenging and relaxing it is all at the same time. It triggers muscles in your body to be activated that you might not even know exist. Yoga helps strengthen your body all while stretching your muscles. I have incorporated yoga into many of my workout routines — especially right before I got married! Now that I am pregnant, I wanted to be able to continue working on my stretching and relaxation. However, I did NOT want to do anything that could endanger my daughter. So, I looked around the web searching for a program that I thought would be safe and effective for practicing yoga while pregnant.

This DVD is especially useful for women who have been practicing Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, or Power Yoga before they were pregnant, but can also be used for women who practice other forms of yoga or beginners who wish to build strength and flexibility. 

{My Thoughts} When I was preparing for my wedding last year, I took up Wii Yoga. I fell in love with how relaxing and rejuvenating yoga is. When I found out I was pregnant in January of this year, I was desperately searching for ways to keep my body in shape while growing a tiny human inside of my belly. Although Wii Yoga was one of my favorite methods of exercising… I wanted a yoga program that was specifically designed for the changes my body was going to be making over the next nine months. By the time I started doing the Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga, my body had changed so much that yoga felt like a foreign concept to me. I love that the Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga is made for ALL types of people who practice yoga – from beginners to experts! It helped me jump back in to yoga and pick up right where I left off!

There are clear and safe modifications throughout this DVD which will assist beginners to build their stamina. These modifications will allow you to gain strength and flexibility safely and once you feel comfortable with the routine you can move to the 1st or 2nd trimester modifications as appropriate.

{My Thoughts} My first trimester was absolutely dreadful. I was sick all the time and it took all of my energy to even get out of bed in the morning. Unfortunately, I did not start my pregnancy exercise routines until I had finally gotten used to being pregnant. I began to use the Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga at the end of my first trimester.

Since I had taken such a long break from using my Wii Yoga until I began the Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga, my body was most certainly out of the yoga routine. However – the Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga DVD has a variety of modifications depending on what level of yoga you are at and what trimester you are in. As my sweet daughter grows larger and larger, the modifications become more necessary. I love that there is someone showing you how you can successfully do the yoga poses during each portion of your pregnancy.

{My Thoughts} I’m going to be honest — I was EXHAUSTED after my first yoga session on this DVD. I was shocked at how much my body had changed in the short break I had taken from exercising. I was also amazed at how off balance I was! After continuing the DVD for additional sessions, I began feeling invigorated and energized after the session was over.
