From Bump To Baby: Five Things I Look Forward To Post-Pregnancy!

I absolutely LOVE being pregnant. There are so many things I look forward to experiencing each and every day. For one, I love that my uncontrollably growing belly is my sweet little girl getting ready to make her entrance into the world. It is such a miracle that there is a tiny human in my stomach — and I thank the Lord each and every day for my daughter’s presence inside of me! I also love that she kicks me multiple times per day — even if her kicks are in unpleasant places (i.e. my bladder when it is full!).

Although I think pregnancy has to be the most beautiful experience I have ever been through, there are a few things that I look forward to being able to do once I have finally gotten to meet my sweet little princess face-to-face.

The first thing on my list is being able to meet and HOLD my sweet girl. However, I think that is an obvious fact. So — I am leaving it off the “official” list. Just keep in mind that it is my #1 thing I look forward to after she is born.

1 being able to control

Although I was never a size zero prior to being pregnant… I did feel relatively comfortable in my own skin. I could easily control my weight. However, now that I am pregnant — my body is no longer in my control. Every single part of me grows uncontrollably each and every day. Although I know it is the natural order of things, sometimes I look in the mirror and it almost surprises me when I see my reflection! I’m getting huge! I am happy to continue growing larger for the purposes of having a healthy and happy baby — however — I look forward to having control over my body again after baby girl gets here!

2 cold meat sandwiches

Although my doctor told me that it is perfectly fine to each deli sandwiches… she said that I needed to heat up the meat before I eat the sandwich. I am NOT a fan of warm deli meat at all. I have tried heating up my deli meat twice… both with bad results.

I VERY MUCH look forward to the day that I can eat cold deli sandwiches again! Particularly… the Italian Subs from the Publix Deli!

3 caffeine

Prior to getting pregnant, I probably drank WAY too much caffeine everyday. I nearly always had a coffee, Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, or Sweet Tea in my hand. Now that I am pregnant… I am extremely limited in how much caffeine I can have per day. Although I thoroughly understand that the limited caffeine is very good for me (pregnant or not)… I look forward to the day that I can go back to drinking as much caffeine as I want every day without effecting the health of another human being.

4 running

I walk every day. I completely understand the benefits of working out while pregnant and I embrace them. However, sometimes when I am simply walking my stomach muscles start to cramp up. I have spoken to my doctor about this and he wants me to continue to exercise, but keep close control over those cramps – we don’t want them to turn into something more serious than a muscle cramp! So, I stay away from all kinds of running.

However, I miss doing high intensity interval training and long distance running. I never ever thought I would see the day that I longed for running hard and pushing my body to the limit. However, I have already started to plan my post-baby HIGH INTENSITY workouts! I am super excited about getting back into the high intensity workout groove and experiencing the freedom of running fast and hard again!

5 sleeping on my tummy

I think this is what I miss most about not being pregnant. Sleeping on my belly is a comfort-thing for me. It is how I get my best nights of sleep. I have not slept on my belly since December 2012! Although my body is accustomed to staying on my sides during sleep… I look forward to that first night that I can sleep on my belly post-baby!!! WOO HOO!
