NEW Disney Storytime App {Review}

Disney stories are timeless.  My family never tires of hearing how Peter Pan follows the second star to the right or how Ariel gives up her voice to become a human for three days.  Though we could recite each of these tales from memory now, our collection of Disney books are by far the most read titles in our home.

Needless to say, when I heard about the new Disney Storytime app being released from Disney Publishing, I knew this was an app we would have to check out.

What makes the Disney Storytime app unique is that it is actually TWENTY stories in one convenient app.  When you purchase Disney Storytime, it comes complete with three of your favorite titles:

    • Toy Story: Starry Night

  • Tangled: Rapunzel’s Story

  • Monsters, Inc.: Always Time for a Laugh

Then, you’ll have the option to add the additional seventeen books to the app if you’d like.  The stories are incredibly cost-effective to purchase, and you’ll save even more if you purchase multiple titles at once.

Don’t worry about in-app purchases where children can buy far more than you want them to.  Instead, parents add “credits” to the app.  These credits show up in the form of a gold coin within the app, and children use those to purchase a story.  Each story costs one gold coin.  This feature allows you to determine how much your child can “spend”, giving you control but still allowing your child to have some independence.

Additional titles that are available for purchase include:

    • Cars: Rematch

  • Cars: Radiator Springs Road Trip

  • Finding Nemo: A Friend in Need

  • Toy Story: A Tight Squeeze

  • Toy Story: Mixed Signals

  • Incredibles: Super Annoying

  • The Little Mermaid: A Special Song

  • Cinderella: The Lost Mice

  • Beauty and the Beast: Belle and the Castle Puppy

  • Princess And The Frog: A Surprise Guest

  • Sleeping Beauty: Buttercup the Brave

  • Wall-E: Down to Earth

  • Up: Watch Dug

  • Aladdin: Abu’s Adventure

  • Lion King: A Day Without Pumbaa

  • 101 Dalmatians: Puppy Trouble

  • The Aristocats: The Coziest Carriage

This is the largest collection of Disney stories to date.  After checking out the app, I can truly say that this is a must-have app for us.

Generally, anytime we leave the house, my daughter has a stack of books that she brings along.  This app enables us to have stories filled with her favorite characters easily available– and there is no heavy stack of books to carry!

Plus, Raileigh has been able to personalize her reading experience.  Both the “Read by Myself” and “Read to Me” options can be customized with an avatar that YOU create.  Though she has no trouble reading any of the stories to herself, she often will choose to have the story read aloud to her and just follow along.

I will admit, though– I am not sure who likes this app more, Raileigh or me.  The stories are just so much fun and offer exciting new adventures with our most favorite characters.

The Disney Storytime App {complete with three titles} is available in the App Store for just $1.99. 2 credits are available for $2.99, 5 credits for $4.99, and 17 credits [all books] for $8.99.

Disclosure:  I received a complimentary app download for the purposes of this review.  However, all opinions and thoughts are my own.
