Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Launches "75 Blue Doors"

disclosure mom central_edited-1 boys and girls club atlantaFor the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta {also known as BGCMA} this is one truly BIG year!  The organization is celebrating their 75th Anniversary!

To coincide with this milestone, BGCMA has launched a project called 75 Blue Doors.  The purpose of this is to show how local Clubs are “opening doors” for youth in and around Atlanta.  25 artists have partnered with local clubs to create 75 individual art displays. Each piece of art is inspired by kids and teens at the Club who are focused on achieving GREAT FUTURES and the dedicated staff members who are helping them get there.

The city of Atlanta is going to be the living gallery where these amazing pieces of art will be displayed.  The doors are already on display at prominent places around Atlanta including the FOX Theater, Atlanta City Hall, Suntrust Plaza, and Turner Field.

The doors will remain on display through the end of April.  I am a big fan of public art such as this and hope to see as many of the doors in person as I possibly can.  For those not in the area or if you simply don’t have time to take it all in, I invite you to visit the 75 Blue Doors website, where you can view a full gallery of the doors that were created.

Once you have viewed the gallery, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite door.  You can also read stories about the kids and BGCMA staff that inspired the doors, as well as biographies for each of the artists that participated.

To help support this mission even further, you can also choose to give $75 to help shape futures and open doors.  This money will go right back into the community, supporting the children and youth in our area.

Additionally, this week {April 7 through April 13} is National Boys & Girls Club Week!  This is the perfect time to “Open the Door and Take the Tour”.  I encourage you to look for a club in your area and set up a time to visit.  This will give you a chance to see firsthand all the good that is being done.  If you’d like to take a virtual tour, that is available to you as well.

The Boys & Girls Club is such a powerful organization that is truly making a difference in communities all across the country.  I invite you to get more information about everything they are doing and how you can get involved.
