Gorton’s Seafood Challenge {Recipe + Giveaway}

I really enjoy cooking.  I find great pleasure in whipping up things that my family truly enjoys eating.  I especially like to find new ways to prepare our favorite foods.

My husband loves shrimp.  I like it as well, but my husband really loves it.

Thankfully, Gorton’s makes it easier than ever to whip up tasty seafood dishes for my family.  Gorton’s was founded in 1849 by a father and son duo in Gloucester, Massachusetts.  After several early mergers, the company became trademarked in 1875, moving into the main offices that are still used by the company today!

Over the years, Gorton’s has introduced countless seafood innovations.  Frozen convenience food, Fresh Lock processing, and fish sticks can all be attributed to Gorton’s.

Needless to say, I was not surprised to hear about the 20 under 200 products from Gorton’s.  They have taken 20 scrumptious seafood options and made them all 200 calories or less per serving.  So, not only can my family enjoy tasty seafood options from Gorton’s, but ones that are actually pretty good for us as well!

These products aren’t bland and unseasoned in order to get them in under that 200 calorie mark.  Oh no– they are bursting with flavor!  We’re talking Lemon Peppercorn Grilled Tilapia, Garlic Butter Shrimp, and Italian Herb Grilled Fillets, just to name a few.

For years, we have been dining on Gorton’s seafood products.  Since all of their products are free of artificial colors, preservatives, flavors, and MSG, I can really feel good about giving it to my family.  I have to admit– with these fantastic 20 under 200 options, I have been more excited than ever to shop for Gorton’s!

In fact, this week I used a {new to us} Gorton’s product to whip up a tasty treat for my family.

Mini Shrimp Tostadas
{recipe adapted from Gorton’s website}

Ingredients

Instructions

1. Prepare shrimp according to package directions.  I recommend lining your pan with foil for easier clean up.

2.  Meanwhile, place tortilla chips on a serving platter.  You’ll need one for each shrimp.  I think we had somewhere around 16 shrimp in our package.

3.  Divide the guacamole amongst the chips, spooning it on to the top of each one.

4.  When shrimp have finished cooking, remove the tails.

5.  Place one shrimp on top of each chip.

6.  Enjoy!

I prepared our mini shrimp tostadas as an appetizer before dinner one night.  Oh my word– were they scrumptious!  My husband and I quickly inhaled ate each and every one of them.  The great thing is that not only are they quick and easy to prepare, but they can also be adapted to fit your family’s specific tastes.

Swap out the Classic Grilled Shrimp for another variety, such as the Garlic Butter Shrimp.  You can also choose to go with a different flavor of guacamole.  It’s completely up to you!

These little treats are perfect for a gathering or party.  Be warned, though– you’ll probably want to make several batches of them.  They will get eaten quickly!

I am so excited about the 20 under 200 offerings from Gorton’s.  Their website is FULL of recipes featuring these amazing products, and I cannot wait to try more of them.
