I know that you already know this if you read my posts, but seriously, I love movies. If I could spend the rest of my life in only one place, like a library, a museum, or a zoo, I’d totally choose a movie theatre. When my husband and I bought our first house, no lie, we told the realtor it had to be within 5 miles of the local theatre. Maybe we’re a little addicted.
I had the opportunity yesterday to go out with my best girlfriend and watch Admission from Focus Features. The movie basically follows the journey of Portia Nathan (Tina Fey) through a typical year as a Princeton admissions counselor who encounters a strange but exciting director (Paul Rudd) of a new and less-conventional school while traveling during her annual recruitment. The year quickly turns anything but typical as she embarks on a crazy journey to discover herself, both in future, and the past that she has tried to leave behind.
I’ll be honest here. I have two words for this film: LOVED. IT. It was a stellar performance by both Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. The comedy was only enhanced by the quirky additions of Lilly Tomlin, and Wallace Shawn (the “inconceivable” guy from Princess Bride). The story line was great and I totally fell in love with all the characters.
If you get a chance to check out this film, you won’t regret it. As we were leaving the theatre, I even told my bestie that I’d like to come back and see it again! It’s a romantic comedy with twists that will keep you interested and laughs that will have you crying!
As a side note, this was also my first time to Midtown Art Cinema and it was really cool!
