Wild Kratts Creature Math By PBS KIDS {Review}

We often refer to Anakin as “Little Rachael,” “Mini-me,” or “Rachael2.”  So it was no surprise when he got to school age, that just like me, he got pretty bored pretty quickly.  He is super smart but hates to sit still for too long.  I don’t blame him.  I was always the kind of student that would get 100% on all my tests but get a ‘C’ in the class because I never did my homework.  Anakin is only in the 1st grade but his grades are already starting to reflect his lack of interest.  As a mom, I’m constantly trying to find new and innovative ways to incorporate his school work into everyday life.  I know for me, if I could relate to the lessons, I was more likely to learn them.

I was super excited when we found the Wild Kratts Creature Math App for our iPad.  Anakin seriously adores Wild Kratts.  If you’ve never heard of it, you should hop on over to PBS and check it out!  It’s a show about two brothers who are animal and nature lovers that turn into cartoons to explore habitats and environments more closely.  It’s both educational and fun. They use live-action and cartoon to engage children in interactive learning.  It’s one of the few kid shows that I don’t mind watching with Anakin.

The Wild Kratts Creature Math app is a fusion of fun and learning based on the hit PBS KIDS series Wild Kratts.
Creature Math helps children practice addition and subtraction and learn valuable ecology/science concepts as they create their very own animal habitat, filled with cool creature pals!
Featuring eight different animals, Creature Math keeps kids engaged as they care for their animals and habitat. With dozens of hilarious animations and loads of fascinating nature facts, practicing math and learning about the interaction between animals and their environment has never been so fun!

The idea is that the player has to use math to help keep the animals healthy.  Not only are they learning and practicing their math skills, but they are learning fun and interesting new facts about different animals as well.

Anakin played this app for over an hour straight!  He absolutely loved it.  I don’t know anything else “educational” that keeps him engaged for longer than 20 minutes!  This app was a huge win for us!!  It’s available for only $1.99 in the app store for iPad or at www.AppStore.com/WildKrattsCreatureMath.

Let me know if you give it a try and what you guys thought!
