DIY ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ Customized Print

This Valentine’s Day, if you’re looking to give something that will truly be loved and appreciated, then I have the perfect gift idea for you.

It’s personalized, it’s inexpensive, and it can be completely customized to any special person in your life.

The ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ print was inspired by various prints I have seen for sale over the years.  These prints often come with quite a high price tag– one that I was not willing to pay.

So, I decided to recreate it, putting my own spin on this sweet idea.

I used the Silhouette Studio and the wonderful print and cut feature that it offers.  I set my page size to 8.5″ x 11″ and drew an 8″ x 10″ rectangle within that.

My print includes 4 dates- my birthday, Darren’s birthday, our wedding date, and Raileigh’s birthday.  I made a similar print for my sister, and included the birth date of she and her husband, as well as their two children.  That’s the beauty of it, though– you can include any dates that are important to your intended recipient.  There is no right or wrong answer!

For the dates and ‘What a Difference a Day Makes’ phrase, I used a free font called Typical Writer.  The names underneath each date are done in another free font, Dawning of a New Day.  To make the lines, I simply used the “draw a line” function in Silhouette Studio.

I used the grid guidelines to properly line up my dates as well as the description below it.  By zooming in really close, it’s easy to make sure that everything is precise.

The ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ print is perfect not only for Valentine’s Day, but numerous other occasions as well:

  • The Wedding of a special couple
  • After the birth of a new child
  • List the birth dates of grandchildren and give to grandparents
  • Many graduation dates of someone who has completed their doctorate
  • … And more.

I am smitten with my new print.  It adds beauty to my home, and I cannot help but smile each and every time I see it.

Who would you like to make one for?

Desi- how would one do this if they don’t have a silhouette cameo? I want to do one with my husbands bday, my bday, our wedding, and our babies bday. Thanks!
