"Spring" Cleaning

I am an angry cleaner.  Not as in it makes me angry to clean, as in when I get angry, nothing feels more cathartic than a little "spring" cleaning.  I say "spring" because it's that kind of cleaning that makes everything a lot worse before it's better.

Today, I cut The Kid's hair.  I hate spending the money on getting it cut professionally so that only happens about twice a year.  But it grows super quick so I have to cut it about every 6 weeks or so to maintain it.  Since he is also in private school, they are pretty strict about it not being on his ears or in his face.

So today after his cut, I obviously had to clean off the bathroom counter.  Since I was cleaning the counter, I ought to go ahead and clean the mirror.  Since I'm cleaning the mirror, why not clean out the cabinets under the sinks?  Since I'm cleaning out the cabinets, I better clean out the drawers, too.

Two hours later I had a bin full of random make-up bags to take to Goodwill that I have never used, one giant trashbag so full I had to get Hubs to take it down for me, and a pile of makeup that I still need to go through.  I don't even wear make-up.  No joke, I put on eye shadow and mascara for special events.  I'm far too lazy to do much else.

So, all that to say, today was the first day I tried cleaning anything with a fabric softener sheet.  Have you heard of this recent trend?  I have to be honest, I'd seen it floating around on pinterest several times and just thought it was the silliest thing ever.  Then today I thought, why not?  I used a wet cloth to wipe down the cabinets and still had a few spots in there.  I pulled out a softener sheet and the last few spots came up with complete ease!  WHOA!  Seriously???!!  No kidding.  So when I emptied out the drawers, they were full of dust and hair and overall grossness and I wiped them out with the sheets too and now they look awesome!  And whats even better?  My bathroom now smells like heaven!  How often can you say that??

Now, pinners abroad also say that the softener helps repel the dust and hair for future.  I will let you know.  Because now that I know they work here, next up:  baseboards!
