Get Connected with the NetZero 4G Mobile HotSpot {Review + Giveaway}

10:14 AM Posted by Desi @ Wee Share

We travel quite a bit.  Between visits to our family back in Georgia, a few nights away here and there for pleasure, and Darren's business travel, we're away from home rather often.  However, just because we aren't at home, doesn't mean the work stops.  This little blog has to go on, whether I am sleeping in my own bed or not.

The problem when traveling is that internet connectivity is far from consistent.  Hotels usually have free access included with your stay, but these connections tend to be weak and spotty, at best.

Enter the NetZero 4G HotSpot.  This handy little HotSpot is small and mobile, making it easy to take your internet along wherever the road may lead.  Let me tell you a bit about how the NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband works.

NetZero offers two portable devices to choose from- the NetZero 4G HotSpot and the NetZero 4G Stick.  The Stick supports one user at a time, via a USB connection.  The NetZero 4G HotSpot supports up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously!

You begin my purchasing one of these two devices.  The HotSpot costs $99.95, while the Stick runs $49.95.  {However, I happened to notice a holiday sale on their website, where you can purchase either device for half off right now!}  Both devices require no contracts, commitments, or coverage charges.

Then, you'll choose the low-priced data plan that works best for you.

  • Free- 200 MB
  • Basic {$9.95} 500 MB
  • Plus {$19.95} 1 GB
  • Pro {$34.95} 2 GB
  • Platinum {$49.95} 4 GB
Plus, you choose the speed at which you want to connect.  LightSpeed conserves your data, while WarpSpeed maximizes your speed.  You can even easily toggle the speed setting {it just needs approximately 15 minutes to adjust}.

We've had the opportunity to try out the fast, portable NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband.  The NetZero service is currently available in 80 metro areas.  Sadly, the Charleston area isn't covered... yet.  However, with all the traveling we've done lately, this mobile HotSpot has came in incredibly handy!

The HotSpot is incredibly easy to set up.  We followed the included Quick Start guide, and were up and rolling within moments-- literally!  My laptop quickly picked up the connection and we were good to go.  Pages load at an incredibly fast speed, even when using the LightSpeed connection.

I can even connect when we're traveling down the road.  I have used the HotSpot to get connected and get some work done while Darren drives.  This makes me feel so efficient!  The ease of use and convenience of the hot spot makes it easier than ever to be productive when away from home.

I also have to mention the size of mobile 4G HotSpot from NetZero.  It's so small, especially compared to the router we've been using at home.  In fact, this device can easily fit in my pocket!  It's really nice to have such a powerful piece of technology, without the big, clunky design to go along with it.

Now, I have some incredibly exciting news to share with all of you.  One lucky reader is going to win a NetZero 4G HotSpot and three months of platinum service!

Giveaway is open to US readers only.

I use TWC, I they are bad. My connection goes down often, have to reset the router and modem and their response is that it is normal. Would love to try Netzero and see how reliable they are.

my current internet connection is through our cable company and we have had NOTHING but problems for the past 2 months, they tell me something different each time it goes out and I have to call them, they send someone out DAYS later (and it usually eventually comes back before they get someone out here) and each time I've been told something different but nothing has fixed the problem. We just got a new modem and they replaced some things outside - the latest is they are blaming construction in the area lol

So I'd LOVE to try something new.. anything has to be better than this lol.

We had to disconnect it, we aren't at home enough to use it and we're trying to cut costs. Its a luxury and sounds vain, but I miss it.

I've got cable internet and an old wireless router, but I will be having a baby soon, and the internet access at the hospital blocks most sites I use, and I will be there a lot. It would be nice to have a way to connect to the internet while I am there.
