2012 Holiday Gift Guide: Chicken Soup for the Soul: I Can't Believe My Cat Did That!
101 Stories About the Crazy Antics of Our Feline Friends
Written by: Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Jennifer Quasha
About this Book {as taken from the Chicken Soup for the Soul website}
We all rejoice in the simple absurdities, funny habits, and crazy antics of our cats. They make us smile every day, but sometimes they really outdo themselves. You will love reading all the heartwarming, inspirational, and hysterical stories in this book. We know after reading the stories you'll say, "I can't believe a cat did that!"
My Thoughts
I have always been a cat person and enjoyed having feline friends around. When Darren and I got married, we adopted a cat that we named Human. However, we were living in a small apartment at the time and Human was very unhappy being confined to such a small space. So, I sadly let Human go live with my mom so that he'd have more space to roam.
We moved to a larger residence and got two new cats-- H2 {short for Human 2} and MC Hammer. They were mischievous little ladies, but we loved them both. Then, I became pregnant with Raileigh. Even before she arrived, the cats already knew something was going on. They disliked all the new baby things that came in and how little attention we showed them.
When we brought Raileigh home from the hospital, the jealousy escalated. The cats {especially H2} would try to swat her and hiss at her. We gave it several months, but the situation did not improve. So, H2 and MC Hammer also went to live with my mom.
Looking back, I can see what a blessing this was. We recently found out that Raileigh is allergic to cats. This has been a hard thing to deal with because my mother-in-law {her Mimi} is especially fond of felines. They have several indoor cats that live in their home.
So far, we have dealt with the situation with allergy medicine, breathing treatments, and lots and lots of cleaning by my mother-in-law.
Needless to say, when I heard about the newest book from Chicken Soup for the Soul-- I Can't Believe My Cat Did That!-- one person came to mind- my mother-in-law! I often hear about the antics of her cats and they do some silly things, that's for sure! However, the cats are like family to them and I know that they love each one dearly.
