As a parent I am always trying to find exciting ways to share experiences and create memories with my girls. We are always on the hunt for family friendly activities that will keep both girls entertained. While Marlee loves exploring kid friendly mueseums and watching live shows of all sorts.
Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts is one of our ALL time favorite spots for family date day. With the exclusive Jim Hensen mueseum and various other exhibits, along with the fun puppet shows- they never fail to entertain! The newest feature show is The Tortoise and the Hair and other Aesop’s Fables and this is one you definitely don’t want to miss.
I always go in with high expecations, but once our hosts Cutie and Patootie cam marching down the aisle playing a Ukelele and Kazoo- I knew we were in for a blast! With bright colors and classic stories, both little ones kept their eyes glued to the stage.
Cutie and Patootie share five stories from Aesop’s Fables and perform using many different types of puppets. There is plenty of fun audience interaction and everyone around me enjoyed themselves- from Gramma and Grandpa to teeny Amelia, everyone was laughing and dancing around.
As with every show we have been to at CPA, we had the opportunity to create our own puppets at the end of the show. This time we made a mouse from Aesop’s Country Mouse, City Mouse. This is one of Marlee’s favorite parts of our trip, as we create a fun puppet and recap the show discussing our favorite parts. With this show Marlee couldn’t choose a favorite story, as she loved them all so much!
I have already recommended this to all of my friends and I am so excited to share with you guys! If you live in Metro Atlanta or plan to visit, be sure to add this to your calendar! The show runs from August 2nd to September 9th, for tickets and show times head over to CPA’s box office. You can also find out about upcoming shows and activities by visiting puppet.org.
