Random Thoughts for the Week

A little while back, we signed Raileigh up to play soccer for the first time.  She’s going to be playing Micro Soccer.  A few days ago, we got an email that there were not enough coaches for her age group.  So far, they only had two coaches and there were enough kids to field FOURTEEN teams.  Micro soccer only consists of three year olds, so that is quite a few of them!  Needless to say, Darren changed around some things at work and will now be coaching Micro soccer this fall.  I am pretty sure that he is even more excited than Raileigh!

On our last grocery trip, my Olympics-obsessed daughter spied a box of Team USA cereal and begged me to buy it.  I thought the price was a bit high (as opposed to the BOGO on sale cereal I normally buy) and figured that it wouldn’t taste very good.  But, I bought it anyway.  The joke’s on me, though, because that cereal is SO good.  I am hoping now that the Olympics are over, I will find the cereal on sale when we go back because I want to stock up!

We leave for Disney World in 16 days!  Those days seriously cannot go by fast enough!  We’ll be there for a little over a week with Darren’s brother, Kevin, and his beautiful bride Angela.  It will be Kevin’s first trip to the most magical place on Earth and we will also celebrate Raileigh’s 4th birthday while there.  It is surely going to be a trip to remember.

For Mother’s Day, Darren got me the ice cream maker attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer.  Let me just say– this thing is amazing.  I don’t think we have been without ice cream since I got it (which is definitely a good and a bad thing!).  Recently, I made the most delicious ice cream I have ever put into my mouth.  It was coconut ice cream.  The only problem is Darren cannot stand coconut, so I have got a huge tub of ice cream just calling my name!

I also just want to give a shout out to my youngest sister, Jesse.  If you have been around here for a while, then you probably know that she is one amazing soccer player.  She starred on her JV team as a goalie this past year, and is also good enough on the field to get some playing time on Varsity.  She just has a lot of pure, natural talent.  Recently, she got invited to try out for the Olympic Development Program as a goalie.  Whether she makes it or not (though I really, really think she will), I just hope that she knows how proud I am for all that she has accomplished.

Sorry for all the randomness– these are just some things that have been on my mind this morning!  Tell me– what’s going on with you?
