Delightful Girls Sewing Patterns from Petite Kids Boutique {Review + Giveaway}

Several months ago, I made my very first visit to the online pattern shop Petite Kids Boutique.  This delightful shop is full of beautiful patterns for little girls, and I instantly wanted to sew up every single one of them.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to sew Raileigh a dress using one of these patterns.  Before I share the dress with you, I want to take moment to get to know Wong {the lady behind the designs} a little better.

Your name and shop name: Wong Li Sian and Petite Kids Boutique

What do you love most about creating patterns? I get to share my ideas and designs with people from all over the world. It is an amazing feeling to see my designs on kids of different races, countries and backgrounds. But it all comes down to the smile on the child’s face wearing one of Petite Kids Boutique’s designs.

What is your favorite pattern that you have made? It is difficult to find my favourite pattern. It’s like how you can’t have your favourite child. Each and every one of my patterns were made with hardwork and love.

Outside of sewing, what do you enjoy doing? I enjoy traveling, trying new food and cuisines.

What are five words that describe you well? Ok, this I have to ask my husband. This is his answer: motherly, short (in height), obsessive but not compulsive, dreamer

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? Cancun, Mexico

What is your favorite dessert? Banana chocolate cake

Tell us about your family. I have a 3.5 yr old daughter who is my main inspiration of all my designs and a supportive husband who will bear with the messy house when I am busy with work.

Since I really am smitten with each and every design at Petite Kids Boutique, it was very hard to decide which pattern to try first.  Finally, I decided on the Donna Dress.  The Donna Dress features a criss-cross front bodice with a low back bodice that closes with snaps.  The skirt is a full twirl circle skirt and there is also a wide sash tie at the back.

I chose the Donna Dress because I love each and every design element in the dress.  Plus, I had a feeling that my dance-loving daughter would really enjoy spinning and twirling in such a fun, full dress.

Based on the measurements included with the pattern, I chose to make the dress in a size 4.  There are not too many pattern pieces to cut out, which was very nice.  However, the dress does take a substantial amount of fabric due to the fullness of the skirt.  I chose a solid white for the dress, mostly due to the fact I had enough of this fabric on hand.  For the sash, I used a piece of Lotta Jansdotter that I had been hoarding for quite a while.

The Donna Dress came together quite easily.  Wong does a wonderful job explaining each and every step.  She even includes a picture to coincide with each step for us visual learners.  Every aspect of the pattern was just so well done that I never worried whether or not I was doing the right thing.  It was very easy to follow.

The result is an absolutely stunning dress that fits my daughter perfectly.  Honestly, it is as if this pattern was written just for her!  Raileigh is in love with this dress.  In fact, I am certain that is her most favorite dress that I have created.  I have sewn her a lot of dresses over the years, so that is really saying a lot!

Raileigh wore this dress one Sunday when we went to church, lunch, and did a little shopping.  She got numerous compliments on the dress.  One lady even asked me where I purchased it!  Now, for an at-home seamstress, that is one amazing compliment.

The next order of business is to decide which Petite Kids Boutique pattern I will be sewing up next.  Perhaps Anya, Maia, or Collette

I am excited today because Wong wants to give several of you the chance to sew something one of her patterns as well!  THREE lucky readers will win one pattern of their choice from Petite Kids Boutique.

Giveaway is open to everyone.
