Disney Wardrobe– The Tinkerbell Dress

I am really excited about our vacation that we have planned for this year!

In September, Angela and her new husband, Kevin, will join Raileigh, Darren, and I on a BIG trip to Disney World!  This will be Kevin’s first visit to the happiest place on Earth.  Plus, we will be celebrating Raileigh’s fourth birthday while there.  It is sure to be the trip of a lifetime.

Even though our trip is still several months away, I have already began creating things in anticipation of the trip.  We just have so many things going on this summer, and I know that if I wait until closer to the trip, I won’t have time to make all of the things I want to.

I have this grand idea of Raileigh having a really fun Disney-oriented wardrobe to wear while there.  She likes to wear dresses, and in order for the dresses to be conducive to long days in the park, it is essential that they are very comfortable.

Enter my first dress in the Disney wardrobe–

The Tinkerbell Dress

This dress is made using the Sienna Dress Pattern from Lil Blue Boo.  This is my absolute favorite pattern I have ever sewn with, hands down.  I have sewn far more garments from this pattern than any other pattern on the market.  It is easy to use and customize to my liking.

For this dress, I used a size 4T but lengthened the dress to a 5T length.  I also adjusted the sleeves to be shorter than the pattern calls for.  I tend to create my neck binding a bit differently than the pattern suggests as well, but that is simply due to personal preference.

For the fabrics, I upcycled portions of three different shirts.  The pink Tinkerbell shirt started as a girls XL shirt and was picked up at the local Goodwill Outlet.  The navy striped ruffle across the bottom began life as a mens golf polo, and was also picked up at the Goodwill Outlet.  The navy sleeves and neck band came from a shirt that Darren generously donated to my growing “to be upcycled” pile.

Both Raileigh and I are very pleased with the finished dress.  She has already told me that she is going to wear it to see Tinkerbell and that she is going to tell Tinkerbell I made the dress for her.  My heart smiles!
