This Day in Disney History- May 6

May 6, 1916

Actress Adriana Caselotti is born to musical parents in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Her father, Guido, taught music in New York, while her mother, Maria, had performed at the Royal Opera in London.

While still a teen, Adriania will supply the voice and personality to Walt Disney’s very first feature-length cartoon heroine, Snow White.  Caselotti overheard a phone conversation in which Walt Disney was asking her father, Guido, if he knew of any suitable voices for Snow White. She then approached her father, suggesting herself for the role. After auditioning for the part in September 1934, Caselotti was offered the part and accepted it.
