Marlee is at an age where she wants to be a part of everything! With that, she wants to do and play the same things as older kids, as well as Justin and I. At 3 years old, she is not quite ready for a full blown game of Monopoly or various other kids games. Though there are a few games she can play, she still requires a bit of help. When I found the game Roll & Play by Thinkfun, I knew we had found a winner!
The mission of Thinkfun is to ‘Ignite Your Mind.’ They offer a wide array of products that naturally inspire learning, spark creativity, and build problem solving through play. ThinkFun was founded with a dream that we could change the world through play. Today, ThinkFun is a respected global company represented in over 60 countries and translated into over 20 languages.
We were sent the first game ever designed specifically for toddlers, Roll & Play! To play, simply toss the big plush cube and identify which colored side faces up. Choose a matching color card and perform the simple activity shown. “Make a happy face,” “Moo like a cow” the activities supported by Roll & Play are designed to help your child shine, supporting healthy development and celebrating success! Roll & Play is the ideal way to gently introduce play patterns and rules through a loving, joyful play experience!
(Rolling the dice)
Marlee absolutely LOVES this game and as soon as we finished she asked to play again! There are six different colored cards, with each one representing a category of Emotions, Body Parts, Animal Sounds, Counting, Colors and Actions. We took the cards and spread them out in a pile in the floor and started rolling. Marlee quickly picked up on how to play and stayed engaged throughout the whole game! We set each card that we had already used off to the side so that there would be a stopping point. Everyone is a winner in this game, which makes it even better!
(‘Reading’ the card)
My favorite part about this game is that Marlee can easily figure out what the card says and only needed help a couple of times. It encourages site words and use of context clues to figure out what each card is asking her to do. It was tons of fun because we took turns guessing what the face, sound or action was portraying. This game is a definite winner in our household!
(Acting out the card)
We love this game so much that it is our new go-to birthday gift for ages 1-4!
