About This Book
The third companion board book to Baby Baby Baby! and Go Baby Go!, praised by The New York Times, fidgety baby plays in a fun-filled day with friends. Baby has played with her pets, explored the outdoors, and cuddled with her family—now it time for a play date! Featuring Marilyn Janovitz’s enchanting and critically acclaimed art, bouncy baby engages in various fun activities with new little friends. Play Baby Play! encourages participation between baby and reader through such actions as dressing for the day, kicking a ball, and even riding a rocket to the moon, all before naptime.
Raileigh is at the age where she is beginning to be too old for board books. However, I find that they are great when I don’t have a lot of time to read to her or when she would like to explore books by herself.
Recently, we added a fabulous new board book to our at home library- Play Baby Play by Marilyn Janovitz. This delightful title features 13 pages, which I found to be a rather generous length for a board book.
Raileigh wanted to check out the book the moment that it arrived to the mail. As she flipped through the pages taking it all in, I could immediately see how sturdy the book was. The pages are thick and durable– perfect for curious little ones.
We have also read the book together numerous times. I have to say that I am enjoying Play Baby Play just as much as Raileigh. The book centers around a child who plays and then gets ready to take a nap. Though Raileigh no longer naps, I found that the book is just as appropriate to use at bed time.
It offers ample opportunities to interact with your child, and there were even times where Raileigh got to predict what she thought would happen next. The text is bold and features rhyming words on every page. It is both a delight to read and listen to. Then, there are the illustrations. They are vivid, eye-catching, and colorful– ideal for engaging your little one during story time.
Whether you have a little one of your own or would like to add to the library of another child, I cannot say enough great things about Play Baby Play.
