The Beachcomber Dress

Recently, I came across the absolutely beautiful Beachcomber Dress over at Ruffles and Stuff. Now that we live near the beach, I find myself being drawn to all things nautical and beach-y. I could just picture Raileigh picking up shells in her very own Beachcomber dress.

So, I found the largest plain white tee I could in my stash. It wasn’t quite as big as I would have liked, but sometimes you just work with what you’ve got.

The directions were easy to follow, and I whipped a Beachcomber Dress up one evening when Darren was working late.

I only deviated from Disney’s instructions very slightly. I was not getting the whole rope braid thing (I am certain it was just me). So, I braided the straps and belt using a regular old three-strand braid. I also made the belt a bit chunkier.

Raileigh likes the dress and I think it makes her look like a little model… or a beach bum… both of which are incredibly cute.

The dress is a bit short for my liking due to the smaller-than-I wanted shirt we started with. However, that’s nothing that a cute pair of leggings can’t remedy!

Now that the hurricane is past, we just need to head out to the beach and collect some shells in our lovely Beachcomber Dress!
