About a week ago, I decided that it was time– Raileigh and I were finally going to make these cookies!
Normally, I would have had all of the ingredients on hand. However, when we moved, I tried to use everything in my pantry, and I am still working on restocking it. So, I got everything I thought that we didn’t have and thought we were all set. Wrong… I had forgotten we didn’t have any wax or parchment paper. So, another trip to the store ensued.
Saturday morning, I talked about it with Raileigh a lot, and got her all excited to make the cookies. We set out all the ingredients and got to work. First step– add flour. I poured the flour into the measuring cup, and what do you know– 1/2 cup too short.
Needless to say, we had to go to the store again. I think Raileigh was beginning to feel like we would never be making cookies.
Sunday, everything finally aligned and we baked a delicious bath of swirl cookies. There are several waiting periods involved as you let the dough harden, so this project took up a good stretch of time.
We used many types of sprinkles on our cookies– six, if you’d really like to know. Raileigh had wanted to use that many from the beginning, but I just wanted to stick with one or two. However, I grossly underestimated how many sprinkled it would take to cover our cookie roll, so six it was.
The cookies don’t take long at all to bake– about 10 minutes. Of course, we had to try one right out of the oven. Absolutely delicious!
