Hiking and Trekking Poles from LEKI {Review + Giveaway}- CLOSED

If you have ever had a fall while out hiking and exploring, then you know how incredibly scary it can be. A few months back, Darren had a pretty serious fall. He was out hiking with my sister on a relatively steep area comprised mostly of exposed granite. He lost his footing and fell approximately 15 feet down the side of the granite mountain they were hiking on. Though he walked away incredibly sore and pretty beat up, he was miraculously okay.
In the past, we have never using hiking or trekking poles. However, after Darren experienced this fall, it made me reevaluate our use of trekking poles. After all, there are many advantages to using them:
- They provide better balance and footing.
- On downhill hikes especially, they decrease the amount of stress on your legs and joints.
- On uphill climbs, poles transfer some of your weight to your shoulders, arms and back, which can reduce leg fatigue and add thrust to your ascents.
- They make crossing streams, loose rocks and slippery surfaces such as ice and snow patches easier and safer.
- They help you establish a walking rhythm.
- They can push back overhanging vegetation from the trail and probe soggy terrain for holes and boggy spots.

We do a lot of hiking and have been talking about gettins some of these. They look great and would be a great addition to our hiking afternoons throughout the state. They look like a great product.

I live in a rural area in the foothills of a large mountain range, so almost everywhere I walk is made up of hills with very steep grades. The main benefit of the Khumbu AERGON Speedlock is their light weight, so they won't become too tiring on longer walks.

I would love to get into walking and hiking so that I could lose weight and get healthy. I can't though because I have a bad leg from an old fracture. These would really help with stability so that I could finally get out and about.

I follow you via GFC. I would love to try these trekking poles because we do a lot of hiking in the woods and as of right now we use bamboo sticks and these would be way better and more comfy I am sure. Thanks for the chance.
