Review & Giveaway: Cooperative Games from Peaceable Kingdom!- CLOSED

Darren and I have always enjoyed playing board games together. Raileigh will turn three in just a few months, and she has really began to enjoy games as well. However, many games have one typical outcome- one player wins and everyone else loses. I just don't think that losing is fun for anyone.
That is why I am so excited about a new line of cooperative games from Peaceable Kingdom. These 5 all-new games promote teamwork and fun. In the end, every player wins by simply working together. This is such a welcome change from the typical games found on the market today.
Let me introduce you to one of the new games available from Peaceable Kingdom:
The baby chicks have flown the coop! All players work together to help Mother Hen collect her chicks and bring them back to the coop. To start, players place the 40 baby chicks all around the board. Mother Hen is on start. The object of the game is to get all 40 baby chicks back inside the coop before Mother Hen gets to the last space on the board. Players spin and move Mother Hen, counting the number of spaces she travels. For each space traveled, players collect that number of baby chick markers and place them in the coop. But watch out for the fox! If the spinner lands on the fox a baby chick is removed from the coop. Players take turns, but work together – players count aloud together, collect the number chicks together and, if they collect them all, players win together! No reading required. Ideal for 2 to 4 players. Game play runs 10-15 minutes.
My family has had the opportunity to try this game out in our home. Raileigh loves animals as well as counting, so I knew immediately that this game would be of interest to her. Additionally, I was thrilled to share this cooperative activity with her.I absolutely love Count Your Chickens from Peaceable Kingdom. Let me highlight for you a few of the aspects I really appreciate about this game.
- There are ample opportunities to practice counting. Each player must count the spaces they move on each turn to know how many chicks to move home. The player must also count the chicks they collect to ensure the correct number are moved home.
- Basic addition is introduced during the game. 5 spots are blue and picture a baby chick on it. If players land on one of these spots, they get to move an additional baby chick home. This means they will add 1 to their total number of spaces moved and chicks collected. Raileigh was adding and didn't even realize it!
- The game promotes cooperation. In order to succeed at the goal of the game (return all of the baby chicks home before the mama chick reaches the chicken coop), players must work together. We cheered each other on, and took turns to reach our goal. When all of the baby chicks reached their home, we celebrated a joint win!
- The game is short. It takes about 15 minutes to play through one round of Count Your Chickens. This is the perfect amount of time for a toddler game, as their attention span won't last much longer than this!
I am so impressed with the quality, design, and concept of Count Your Chickens from Peaceable Kingdom. I cannot wait to check out the other 4 all-new cooperative games they recently introduced:
