Our Long Weekend in Charleston

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of going to Charleston, SC. We were actually in nearby Summerville, but I didn’t think that many of you would know where that was.

The reason we went for a visit is that our very good friends, Cortney and Jesse, are expecting their first baby! They are having a baby girl. She doesn’t have a name just yet, so Cortney and Jesse have dubbed her “Baby S” for now (the “S” is for their last name).

This is the first time we have visited with them since the announcement of the pregnancy. Cortney had actually discovered she was pregnant just before our last visit in October, but they hadn’t told anyone yet. The baby is due June 6, so we got to see Cortney with a big, beautiful baby belly.

We spent most of the weekend relaxing. This is usually the case when we go up there to visit. In fact, Darren always requests that we make time for naps, and this trip was no exception!

We also went to the park…

went to the playground…

ate at some delicious local eateries, and watched a few movies.

On Sunday, we went to church. We got to visit the church we attended while living in South Carolina. This is actually where we first met Cortney and Jesse.

Later in the afternoon, Raileigh and I went to Cortney’s baby shower, which was held at the church.

This is one blessed little girl– look at all of the gifts that were brought for the new baby!

Raileigh sat, mesmerized, and watched Cortney open each and every gift. She did get confused when she saw something that she has at home. I think she thought we had given the baby all of her things!

There were also many yummy things to munch on. Look at the beautiful cookies handmade by Tiffany, the hostess of the shower (I am going to have to get her to tell me how to make the icing look like this!).

All in all, it was an absolutely amazing weekend. I miss our wonderful friends already, and I cannot wait to meet their beautiful bundle of joy very soon!
