Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?-- New App from Oceanhouse Media

Before Raileigh was born, at one of my baby showers, my mother-in-law gave me a set of 4 Dr. Seuss board books. I was thrilled to add these to Raileigh's library and share them her when she arrived. We've read all 4 of the books countless times, but Raileigh has always had a clear favorite- Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?

When I heard that Oceanhouse Media was releasing an omBook (Oceanhouse Media Digital Book) of this story, I was more than a little excited! I knew that Raileigh was going to absolutely love this book in digital form.

Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? is a delightful tale of noises and quite silly and fun to read.

There are three ways in which this book can be read:

• "Read to Me" — listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read
• "Read it Myself" — read the book in its traditional form
• "Auto Play" — plays like a movie, automatically reading and turning pages. Great for younger children!

Normally when reading digital books from Oceanhouse Media, I chose the "read it myself" mode and read the book aloud to Raileigh myself. However, I absolutely love the narration in this story, so we have mostly been using "Read to me" or "auto play". The narrator's voice is delightful- silly and quirky just as the book is. He truly fits perfectly with the story.

We have thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is background audio and enlarged illustrations-- taken straight from the original print book by Dr. Seuss. I have found that these two features really have the ability to enhance the story reading process.

What I love most, though, is how interactive this story is. After every sound is introduced, the book says "Mr. Brown can do it, how about you?" Each and every time, Raileigh will make the noise in her own adorable little two-year-old way. It makes my heart smile. If she doesn't quite remember what a "pop" or a "klopp" sounds like, we can use the Picture/ Word Association feature. This allows you to touch a picture and hear the word associated with it. The word will also float onto the screen so that you can see it in print as well.


Our favorite page of the entire book is the last screen. All of the silly words presented within the book are there on one screen. You can touch each of the words and hear them aloud over and over again. We have sat for quite some time, touching the words continuously, and giggling at how silly they sound!

We have enjoyed this omBook incredibly-- our favorite digital book we have downloaded in some time. Raileigh asks to read it over and over again and I just can't say no. Our entire family is loving the Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? omBook from Oceanhouse Media!
