About this Digital Book (as taken from the Oceanhouse Media website)

The Dr. Seuss Classic "Fox in Socks" is now available as a digital book for your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

"New socks. Two socks.
Whose socks? Sue's socks.
Who sews whose socks?
Sue sews Sue's socks."

"Fox in Socks" introduces two delightfully funny characters, Fox and Knox, who converse almost entirely in rhyming tongue-twisters. Together they move through the story and describe each scene with rhymes that grow in complexity. Jump in and join the fun, but take it slowly because this book is dangerous for your tongue!

The most famous tonque-twister in the book: "a tweetle beetle noodle poodle bottled paddled muddled duddled fuddled wuddled fox in sox, sir!" is often referenced in popular media. Try saying that out loud! Is your tongue numb?

Our Thoughts

I live in a house full of Dr. Seuss fans- as I am sure you do as well. So, naturally we were thrilled with Oceanhouse Media's newest digital book release, Fox in Socks. This is actually the 16th Dr. Seuss book that Oceanhouse Media has released as a digital book. They actually have plans to release ALL 44 of the classic Dr. Seuss's titles!

Fox in Socks in just such a fun book. I could not wait to share it with Raileigh. There are three ways in which this book can be read:

  • "Read to Me" — listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read
  • "Read it Myself" — read the book in its traditional form
  • "Auto Play" — plays like a movie, automatically reading and turning pages. Great for younger children!
I decided to use auto play. This truly is a fantastic feature for young children who can't actually read on their own yet. It allows Raileigh to have the full effect of the story, just as if I was reading it aloud to her! It only took about 2 seconds of listening to the articulate narrator for me to know I had made a VERY good choice with this book. Have you ever actually tried to read Fox in Socks? There are more tongue twisters than I can even think of! It would only take one page for my tongue to be in knots. By using auto play, Raileigh can hear the actual text of the book and not her mom stumbling over every other word.

One of my favorite features that I have seen in each of the Oceanhouse Media digital books we have viewed is the picture/ word association feature. Raileigh has an extensive vocabulary, but this feature allows her to learn even more word. By simply touching a picture, the associated word is spoken and the text zooms up so you can see the spelling of the word as well.

This is one high quality digital book that I am proud to add to our digital book library. With original Dr. Seuss text and illustrations, this has all of the components to be one book your child will request time and time again.

When you stop by Oceanhouse Media, don't forget to check out all of the other Dr. Seuss titles available. Make note that several are available in a special FREE version!

Make sure to follow Oceanhouse Media on Facebook and twitter so you don't miss out on any exciting new releases!
