Sears Outlet Push Mower Review & Tool Set Giveaway!- CLOSED

When we were getting ready to move, we knew that the first thing we would have to get would be a lawn mower. Our old house had a yard that measured around 2 acres. There were only 2 trees in the entire yard and lots and lots of grass. A few patches of grass proved to be extremely thick and they grew very fast. Meaning, if you waited more than 2 weeks to cut the grass, it had grown to at least knee level.
Last summer, we just borrowed riding mowers from Darren's grandparents and father. However, our grass seemed to be a challenge for every mower that touched it. In fact, we sent 4 different mowers to the shop last summer- some even went a few times! Needless to say, we are actually pretty thankful for the smaller, more manageable yard at our new home. It's flat, doesn't have any unruly, thick patches of grass, and is able to be cut with a push mower!
For the first few weeks after we moved, Darren's father came and cut the grass for us. Though that was very nice, it was only a temporary solution. We knew that we had to get a lawn mower very soon. The first day we walked into our local Sears Outlet Store in Tucker, GA, we saw the solution to our lawn care needs- the Brute 22" Walk Behind Mower by Briggs & Stratton.
Imagine our excitement a few days later when I got a call about reviewing our first item with Sears Outlet. I was expecting a toaster or a similar small item. Instead, they had called to tell me that we would be reviewing the amazing Brute Walk Behind Mower we had seen at the Tucker store. I never thought I would be giddy about a lawn mower, but this day I most definitely was.
A few days later, we loaded up the family to go pick up our new mower. We have a car, so I didn't know if the mower would fit inside for us to transport it home. Indeed, the mower in the box did not come close to fitting in the trunk of our car. However, the team at Sears Outlet was fabulous. They took the mower out of the box and it was able to fit inside the trunk. We could not wait to get it home and use it!
Before we used it, we sat down and read the owner's manual that came with the lawn mower. After all, we didn't want to do something wrong and break it the first time we used it! In addition to proper care and usage guidelines, we learned a lot about the characteristics if the mower.

Assembly of the mower was incredibly easy. Plus, the Brute 22" Walk Behind Mower by Briggs & Stratton comes with a very easy to follow quick start guide to help you get mowing sooner. We assembled the handle, set up the recoil rope, added oil and fuel, and we were set to go! Darren decided to bag the grass because I am not a fan of the clippings all over the yard. Adding the bag was a breeze as well.
The first time Darren mowed our grass it was a bit taller than normal. It had been a little over three weeks since it was last cut, and we had experienced a lot of rain. I knew cutting through that grass would be a good test for the new mower. I was shocked at how easily the grass went from tall and straggly to neat and trim. The mower didn't struggle at all to cut through the grass.
The mower was very easy for Darren to use. Pushing it was easy, as was dumping the bagged cut grass. He had to dump several times that day, but that was to be expected with our tall grass! It took a lot less time than I expected for the entire yard to look great again. The Brute 22" Walk Behind Mower by Briggs & Stratton really preformed beyond my expectations.
We have used the mower several times since it came to live at our home. It has done a great job for us every time. It starts easily each time. We have used the bagging option for each grass cutting, but Darren has adjusted the cutting height to various levels based on the initial height of the grass. All have preformed well. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about our lovely new mower from Sears Outlet!

We desparately need a weedeater to trim the wildflowers ie. weeds that grow into the chainlink fence at the back of our yard and here and there in the garden and patio area. Sears Outlet offers a host of options all within an affordable range. I was also surprised to see they offer refurbished items as well at substantial savings.
