Review & Giveaway: My Glamorous Baby- CLOSED

Ever since Darren and I went to Disney World on our honeymoon, I have had an infatuation with all things Disney. I have a few modern favorites, but I thoroughly enjoy the classic Minnie and Mickey. Through cd's, books, and movies, I have began to introduce Raileigh to the wonderful world of Disney. Imagine my utter delight when I recently discovered a new way to bring Disney into her life- pillowcase dresses from My Glamorous Baby.
My Glamorous Baby is based in (you guessed it!) Orlando, FL. Being that close to Disney would have to be a constant inspiration for all of the beautiful Disney inspired dresses! But, before we talk about all of the wonderful products found at My Glamorous Baby, let's get to know the creative mom behind the clothes a bit better.
Name and Location: My Glamorous Baby, Orlando, Florida
Where did you get your etsy shop name from? My children, they are my inspiration to create and everyday joy.
What inspired you to open your etsy shop? From the first moment I found out I was pregnant with my first child I started creating clothing and accessories, I wanted my children to know how important they are for me and what a better way than by taking the time to create items from them specially ones as unique as them. With their clothes so different and stylish people began to comment and request orders until I decided to try and open my own virtual shop to which I have been blessed.
Apart from creating things, what do you like to do? I am a very family oriented person and besides creating and designing clothes I love to hang out with my family and kids. Even if it's just kicking back and watching cartoon with them or playing a video game.
Is there any craft you don’t know how to do but wish you did? I always wanted to learn how to knit unfortunately I have not been able to master this technique yet.
Have you lived anywhere interesting you'd like to tell us about? I grew up in Massachusetts but also had the opportunity to live in Puerto Rico a beautiful tropical island with clear warm beaches, friendly people and very colorful style.
If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would you choose? I would like to meet Angelina Jolie, I feel she is a great humanitarian who gives her time and effort to help those in need. I know that if I had the monetary means as she does I would follow in her foot steps towards returning the smiles to those who have lost their reason to smile due to fact that they born less fortunate than us.
What is your greatest accomplishment is life this far? Beating cancer while pregnant with my twin girls. When everyone had lost their faith and did not see cure I never gave up and here we are today eight years later.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself being a successful small business owner with a strong based clientele
Anyone or anything else you’d like to tell us about? I enjoy making childrens clothes especially girls. I think clothing should be fun and unique to match the style of each child. I also enjoy custom orders and the challenges they bring as well as new ideas.
I was very excited when My Glamorous Baby agreed to work with me on a review here at Wee Share. I was offered the option of choosing a dress from those listed in the shop or being surprised. I decided that I would like for Raileigh to have a Mickey dress, but that the design could be a surprise.
The day our package from My Glamorous Baby arrived, I could not wait to see what dress was inside. The pillowcase dress I pulled out is made of a fun pink and white polka dot fabric. The bottom of the dress is made from a contrasting black fabric. It is separated from the pink by a thin line of ric-rac. The front of the dress features a fused and embroidered Mickey Mouse head silhouette. The dress ties with black polka dot grosgrain ribbons at the top. The arm holes also feature a thin border of ribbon that matches the ties.
I was very excited to try the dress on Raileigh. Currently, it is a bit large on her, but I think that is great. It has actually gotten chilly here again, and by the time it really warms up, the dress should fit a lot better. Plus, the great thing about pillowcase dresses is just how versatile they are. They can be worn with a shirt underneath or with no layers. They are great wardrobe pieces to wear year round. Plus, once the dress becomes too short to be worn as a dress, it will make a fabulous long tunic top.
The second I put the dress on Raileigh, she discovered the ribbon ties. She played with them almost the entire time she wore the dress. It was like having a toy and a cute new outfit all in one. I am so glad that the ends of the ribbons are heat sealed, because they would have definitely been fraying from Raileigh's constant tugging if not. I also like that the ribbon is grosgrain as opposed to satin. The grosgrain ribbon just tends to stay tied a whole lot better.
I let Raileigh wear her dress outside while we ate snack. I had a sweater on her because it was chilly, but I did let her take it off for a few quick pictures. The wind was blowing a lot while we did our mini photo shoot. The dress is very flowy and would blow around Raileigh each time a gust of wind came through. Because the dress is so flowy and open, it is very nonrestrictive and easy for Raileigh to move in it.
In addition to the Mickey and Minnie pillowcase dresses, My Glamorous Baby also features several other pillowcase dresses with various Disney characters. Some of the featured characters include Winnie the Pooh, Princess and the Frog, Tigger, Eeyore, Cinderella, and Piglet. My Glamorous Baby also offers a large variety of shirts, pants, outfit sets, bows, and other clothing and accessories for children. I would so pick the Scooby Doo Euro Patchwork Twirl Skirt. It's colorful and absolutely gorgeous! Plus scooby doo is a favorite around our house!
