Review & Giveaway: Jessie Girl- CLOSED

It's only January, but the weather has already started to warm up here in Georgia. I hope it's not a fluke, because I am seriously enjoying these mild weather days where I can have all of the windows open. It's the perfect kind of weather for Raileigh to wear a skirt. If you're looking for some great spring skirts for a little girl in your life, look no further than Jessie Girl.
Jessie Girl was started by an amazing mother of two named Vicki. Luckily, her daughter accumulated so many skirts, that Vicki decided to open her Etsy shop and start sharing her creations with us! Before I tell you all about Vicki's beautiful clothing, I'd like to share a little bit about her. So, here is Vicki Flam of Jessie Girl.
Name and Location: My name is Vicki Flam and I live in Southern Connecticut.
Where did you get your etsy shop name from? We named my daughter Jessie after my grandmother who was a wonderful seamstress and made all of my mother's clothes. When I began making clothes for my daughter it just seemed natural to call the company Jessiegirl.
What inspired you to open your etsy shop? I got so carried away with the beautiful fabrics that are available and was making my daughter an obscene amount of twirl skirts. My neighbor was selling embellished t-shirts and suggested I try ETSY - now I love it!
Apart from creating things, what do you like to do? I am actually a High School history teacher and a wife and mother of two great kids - so my days are pretty filled.
Is there any craft you don’t know how to do but wish you did? I would love to learn how to knit. I see those adorable hats for girls and babies - they are absolutely darling.
What is your greatest accomplishment is life this far? I think like most who are blessed with kids - it's being a Mom. It brings such happiness and I'm having such fun watching them grow up.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I really would like to see Jessie girl clothing take off. I have been doing art fairs and home shows in addition to ETSY and have gotten a positive response. I would love to see where this takes me - maybe in 10 years Jessie can help with the sewing!
Anything else you’d like to tell us about? I hope that Moms will look at all the wonderful designers on ETSY to find clothes for our kids that are fun and unique.
Vicki and I have been working together on doing a review for quite some time. She was actually one of my very first contacts when I started this blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed our email exchanges over the past several months. Vicki let me know that she would be debuting a new twirl skirt in her shop. That is the design that she decided to send Raileigh. I had no idea what the skirt was to look like. However, based on the fact that all of Vicki's creations look incredible, I had no doubt that I would love this new design.
I was thrilled the day that our package from Jessie Girl arrived. I could not wait to see the exciting new skirt that Vicki had created. Upon opening the package, I found an amazingly beautiful skirt inside. The skirt is composed of four different fabrics. The fabrics look wonderful together. Vicki has such an incredible eye when it comes to pairing the prints up. I would have never gone to the fabric store and picked out these four prints to go together. However, Vicki has brought them together in a beautiful twirl skirt and they work perfectly.
Upon examining the skirt, one of the first things I noticed was the cute Jessie Girl tag in the skirt. It's light pink and really adds that extra little unseen touch to the skirt. The stitching on this skirt is impeccable. All the seams are finished using a serger. It is a very professional and high quality finish. Additionally, the two seams where the tiers of the skirt come together have an incredibly straight top stitch for added durability and eye appeal. No detail has gone unnoticed. Vicki has created a very well made skirt.
I was anxious to let Raileigh try out her new skirt. I was pleased with the overall fit of the skirt. The elastic waist fits quite well, with plenty of room for continued growth. The length of the skirt falls below the knee. I love that the skirt is on the longer side because this means that it will be a part of Raileigh's wardrobe for a long period of time. Vicki purposefully designs her skirts to be this length so that we can get the most possible wear from them.
The great thing about Vicki's skirts is that they are appropriate to be worn year round. In the cooler months, I can pair the skirt with leggings and possibly some boots. When spring and summer arrive, Raileigh can wear the skirt with no layers. Versatile clothing is absolutely essential if you don't want to constantly be purchasing new clothing for your child. It doesn't get any more versatile than being able to be worn year round!
In addition to the skirt that we received, there are several other designs available for purchase at Jessie Girl. Each twirly skirt brings together a unique combination of fabrics that any little girl will enjoy wearing. Vicki also creates adorable ruffle pants for toddlers and young girls. You can also have a head scarf made to match any of the clothing in her shop. Check back often as well. Vicki is currently listing several new styles for her spring collection.
