Cupcake Craze: Review & Giveaway: Crafted by Teri (apron)- CLOSED

Raileigh may be young, but she loves to help in the kitchen. It all started with unloading the dishwasher. The older she grows, the more she wants to do. Of course, she can't safely help with everything yet. However, there are some things she can do and I like to try and allow her to do those things. I think baking is one area she can help me in quite a bit. Every little baker needs their own apron so their clothes stay clean. I found the perfect apron for Raileigh at Crafted by Teri.
Teri is the wonderful lady behind this great online shop. Her etsy store is filled with an assortment of products to dress up your home and your little one. Before I tell you about her amazing creations, I'd like for you to get to know her better. So, I would like to introduce Teri of Crafted by Teri.
Name and Location: Crafted By Teri, Columbus, OH
What inspired you to open your Etsy Shop? I wanted to see if people would buy the crafts that I enjoyed making. I had just started participating in local craft shows and was interested in selling via the Internet. I worked full time outside of the home at that time and didn’t have a lot of time to do all of the local craft shows.
Where did you get your Etsy shop name, Crafted By Teri, from? When I first started making crafts, I was making wood trays and boxes and several other assorted crafts. I though that Crafted By Teri was a good fit. Since then, I’ve really discovered that sewing is my true love.
Apart from creating things, what do you like to do? I love talking with customers about my work. When I first started doing the Craft Shows, I was very nervous talking to customers. Over the past three years, I’ve gotten over the nervousness and really enjoy talking to people and answering their questions about my aprons and tissue box covers. Getting out of the sewing room and meeting people really inspires me to find beautiful fabric to work with.
Is there any craft you don’t know how to do but wish you did? Oh yes, I have a list! This year I am going to learn how to make Rag Rugs. I’ve been in love with them since I was a small girl. My Great Grandmother had them in her home and they have always fascinated me.
What is your favorite flavor cupcake? Chocolate! Are there other flavors?
Do you eat the frosting first, the cupcake first, or just bite into the whole thing? Oh, I just bite into the whole thing.
What is your greatest accomplishment in life this far? My greatest accomplishment to date is being a Great Grandma! The grandchildren are like sponges and love to learn about what I am doing. We get them involved in all kinds of crafts and sewing.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I hope to be doing exactly what I am doing today. I love my life and I wouldn’t want to change a thing about it.
Anyone or anything else you’d like to tell us about? This past year, like many others I lost my job at a major bank after 18 years. Instead of looking for another job in another bank, I decided to take my business fulltime. I have 7 stores online and participate in all local farmers markets, craft bazaars and shows. I love this new life and am hoping to make a go of doing what I love.
I was very excited when Teri agreed to send us an apron for Raileigh to review. I knew that it would be the perfect thing for Raileigh to wear in the kitchen when we prepared all the cupcakes for Cupcake Craze! Though she is a wonderful helper, she is a bit messy. It doesn't thrill me to do infinite loads of laundry, so anything that helps to keep her clean is a plus.
Teri had several children's cupcake aprons in her shop, and I couldn't wait to see which one she had chosen for Raileigh. I was thrilled to see the pink apron when I opened the package. This adorable apron is made from a beautiful light pink cupcake fabric. It features two front pockets that are red. That's not all, though! Turn the apron over and you have a whole new apron! Yes, the apron is reversible. The other side of the apron is red with cupcake print pockets- the exact reverse of the first side.
The top of the apron features a red loop that easily slides over the head around the child's neck. There are red ties to tie around the waist. These ties are very long and can even be wrapped around the front before tying in the back. They are plenty long enough to expand and grown with your child.
I could not wait for baking day and for Raileigh to try out her new apron. The apron fits size 2T to 5, so it is a tad big for Raileigh since she is only 16 months old. I pinned the neck strap up a bit to fit her better. The first time she wore it, I did not loop the waist straps around the front, I just tied a huge bow in the back.
Raileigh assisted me in baking my first batch of cupcakes. She poured some candy sprinkles in our cupcake batter. She also helped me to out the cupcake liners into the baking pan. Raileigh thoroughly enjoyed getting to sit on the counter (under my VERY watchful eye) and help mommy bake. She also held her mini wisk, but I didn't actually let her stir anything with it. The whole time Raileigh was helping me, she wore her adorable new cupcake apron. I think it was perfect.
Raileigh continued to wear her apron around the house after she finished helping me. She managed to get her snack all over it, so I just threw it in the wash. I washed and dried the apron as I do all of my laundry. It came out looking as good as new. I was very happy with the quality and construction of the apron after seeing it go through the wash. I can see it is something that will be a part of our baking memories for years to come.
Teri also creates aprons in adults sizes as well! I just love some of the new adult designs that Teri just released. The great thing about the aprons is that Teri creates all of her adult apron in children's sizes as well. So, you can get one in each size and have a matching mommy and me set!
